Not at all.

I'm a heavy user, and have had zero battery issues with my Z30 with non-removeable battery. I bought an external charger, and only ended up using it when we had a power outage at the end of a long day.

Me neither. There has to be a reason why they've gone this direction.

Either it costs too much to make them removable or they feel there aren't enough people needing/buying replacement batteries or they are that confident in the battery life.

Making the battery removable would have made it smaller.

I figure when the battery life starts to be an issue I'll purchase a replacement and replace it myself or a new BlackBerry device.

It'll be a couple of years down the road anyway.

Nope my z30 just keeps going and going. And I imagine the passport will be just as good or better.

Think we all need to get used to the fact that most phone manufacturers are getting rid of removable batteries.

If I can get through 2 full days of heavy use on a single charge, I can work with that. Eventually, you going have to charged the phone even if the battery removable or not. I just want to limit the time I have to plug the phone in the wall.

Truthfully I would rather having a larger non removable battery than a smaller removable one.

non-removable as a rule of thumb enables for a much higher battery capacity as it's encapsulated inside the phone as opposed to an externally packaged battery.
That being said non-removable batteries are still removable you just have to disassemble the device in order to replace it. It's likely the battery is attached to the phones board using a 2 or 3 pronged micro connector rather than soldered. I have not seen any designs though of the internals to know.

Hmmm, might be an issue with the 10.3 leak I'm using (although the battery life seemed reasonable) but I blasted my way through 2 q10 batteries in a 15 hr day last week. Granted I spent about 4-5 hrs on the phone and had the screen on using Web, emails, maps and Bbm almost constantly but sometimes that's what I have to do. That's the equivalent of 5200mah in a phone with a much smaller screen than the passport. I'm sure 99% of the time it will be more than capable, but I guess that's why I also have a portable battery in my bag at all times.

I'll be honest, removable batteries are more of a nice to have than a necessity for me. I actually prefer to plug in a battery and keep working than have to turn off the device, swap batteries and reboot.

Quite the opposite really. Less movable parts no.provision of spacing for expansion of the battery and connectors are imbedded

The reason they don't want a removable battery is because they expect you to get the passport 2 in a year. After a few years your battery will be crap but only business use phones for that long. Isn't this for business? oh well.

No, I find it annoying when I have to pull the battery to take the sim out ie Q10/Z10

Removable batteries are smaller. There are other reasons also. The only one you need to know is it will be smaller.

I had a Q10 prior to the Passport and in the year and a half I had it I can count on one hand the amount of times I pulled the battery out. I'm fine with non-removable.

battery life is pretty good so far, so I would have to say not really... As much as it is a must for some, I have never owned or carried a second battery around - most of the time I am around a charger if I need it...
