Any of you ever get tempted to use one of your old devices for a day? Was tinkering with my old bold 9000 this morning and it brought back memories.. such a rock solid device! I might get a sim adapter for my nano sim and use it for a day or 2.

I have my old Bold 9000 in a drawer, and I used to think it was massive. It's broken, the screen is shattered and I can't find the battery. But every few weeks when I'm looking for something in that drawer, I'll pick it up and hold it and type a few things. I got it in 2008, unlocked at Best Buy to use on T-Mobile, and I only would get EDGE on it, but I just had to have it.

The phone may work but not sure if the data will. I just swapped my 9900 for a Passport and the data plan was not compatible. Could be the same in reverse.

I booted up my old curve 8310 a few days ago when I found it in a drawer just for $#!Ts and giggles.

    8310 -> 9800 -> 9900 -> Q10 -> Z30 -> Passport ftw

Just get your carrier to add BIS to your plan. Shouldn't cost extra if you already have data.

I've been with blackberry since the 7520... what's so "strange" about thinking about using a retro device for a day or two if they're all just sitting in my closet in a shoebox?

I would definitely go back to the more odd BlackBerrys. BlackBerry flip phone, storm 2, and my all time favorite 8700. Sadly I don't think they'res a cheap way to add bis or enable the BlackBerry apn to my Fido account.

    Sold my Z10
Still update my Z30 with latest Blitz OS

But this thing is so different (Passport) I can't go back
    But it's fun to reminisce

When I was selling my Z30 and giving a demonstration to the buyer, I definitely felt missing Z30 's form factor and virtual keyboard.

But Passport has the better specs, therefore overall better experience...

No :/ too much of a hassle since I need to change my plan to enable BIS. I use it for taking notes. It's not connected to any network so it's as secure as can be lol.

as "strange" as it would be for you to use one of these for a day or two (seriously):

Blackberry Nostalgia for a pp owner-gordon-gekko-motorola-brick-phone.jpg

Don't you think that would be strange?

I dunno, I guess I see technology/life as going one way --> forward, not backwards, and when I think about going backwards with tech, it just makes me no need to get offended...

Now if you were doing that as part of a costume, then I would understand, if your character was "retro-man" or Mr. Gekko of course; it just seems really strange and pointless to me to go backwards with tech... unless absolutely needed, does that make sense?

Yes and no..... I sometimes feel things were 'easier' back in the day before smartphones.

I picked up my candy bar Vertu which is predominantly a phone and text machine. Things were easier back then when people actually spoke to each other and communicated.

Now it's all text, BBM, email and chat.

We have as we go forward reduced human interaction in its most basic sense.

Yes it's a BlackBerry. If you have something bad to say... speak to Easton!

I've got a second SIM-Card for my Bold 9900. I absolutely love the Passport, but hey, the old Bold 9900 is one of the most beautiful devices I know. It's not only the famous design, but also the feeling when you hold it in your hands.

Not necessarily.. It'd be more like driving an E30 M3 over a 2015 M5.. they're both awesome for their era
