Went to Milwaukee and it worked pretty good.
When talking about blackberry maps, I think it's important to tell which version, since it has improved a lot since the beginning of BB10. I've made a comparison few month ago, and it was more efficient on a two hour trip than Google maps for example : route was comparable, jam management was a little better, and more important, battery life was way longer. I did this with a Q10 with 10.3.1.xxxx .

Yes. It is. I got lost in Phnompenh - Cambodia for an entire afternoon facing the tropical heat because BlackBerry Maps isn't available there. I'm travel a lot, and maps application is actually my best mate but yeah somehow it killed me and now my friends don't believe me that Passport is a very good phone since they only have seen some moments I had troubles with the phone like maps, iMessage, camera's focus, etc. But I mean. The BlackBerry Passport is still good and better than those iPhones and Android devices for my needs.

No maps is worse.

I don't use Google maps. BlackBerry maps work flawlessly. USA
Posted from a Z30. Get one!
There are many other alternatives in the BlackBerry world so quit complaining and go find one. Apple's Maps sucked for years and they used google maps so get over it. You knew going into BlackBerry you were buying into the blend of the two worlds of BlackBerry and android.

I'm french, I live in Paris, I have the same problem with it. But the worst, it's the ETA, it's completely false.
I just use Waze now.

You're all wrong. The worst maps are the ones drawn by a gas station attendant when you're lost. You find out the turn is the wrong one and end up in a bad neighborhood. What goes on from there, well............
BlackBerry maps useless!!

I'm own a passport and use Blackberry Maps on a daily basis and haven't had one problem nor issue with it. It does exactly what I need it to do and very well. I have a top of the line Tom Tom GPS in my vehicle and it hasn't been touched as I find myself using Blackberry Maps as it being simple to use, precise and searching places near by is a breeze. That is a shame that your having issues with it. Definitely look into what is going on. Maybe something up with your app itself or something wrong with the internal settings of your device??
I don't know if you can but look at the option of deleting the app and reinstalling it. Also a hard reset of your device a few times may do the trick to get this back in line.
Good luck.

I still say that Maps is far better than my stand alone units for turn by turn and traffic avoidance. Out all the apps I've tried, whether I was in Canada, the US, or the UK, Maps is the only one that has never let me down.

I also use BlackBerry Maps extensively in Canada, and never had any major issues. I can also attest with those who claimed that it generally performs better car navigation than Google Maps (in NA anyway). There have been a few occasions where we had family trips outside Ontario, and the other cars following me asked how I got to the destination ok using the route I did. They were following me and had Google Maps navigation on, but told me that it wasn't plotting a logical route and missed some of the streets I had to turn on. These are probably isolated cases, as I am sure in other North American locations Google Maps may perform better. But it just goes to show that Google Maps (and likely Apple Maps) aren't always the best or perfect either.
After reading this thread I decided to install Google Maps from Snap on my Classic. It works fine, but the sign in function doesn't work so you can't save or access any of your places/favorites (which kind of sucks).
They did it this way in order to avoid situations like in that movie Wrong Turn.

The sign-in feature in Google Maps works great. Just install the Google Play Store. The included login app will provide support for starred places and the maps history.

That's awesome, I didn't know that. Thanks very much Cobalt!
UPDATE: I installed Google Play Store per the instructions, and voila the Google Maps signed in automatically! Brilliant work Cobalt, and very much appreciated. I still like BlackBerry Maps, but at least now the Google Maps app works fully and can be used as a second option.

No Maps is way worse. That's what I heard. Like, if a guy had a choice between BlackBerry Maps and No Maps, studies have shown most go with BlackBerry Maps.

Maps isn't that bad it is the gps on my phone that sucks
Recently visited NZ and the car hire didn't have a GPS. Bought a data sim and used it on my passport. The Maps worked flawlessly, no issues at all.

so i have been complaining about maps since i got the pp. actually it is the only feature of the pp that i dont like . i also have a samsung f5. the samsung is on verizon and the pp is att. i turned on maps on the pp and a message came up that the gps could not find my position . gps was on . i then opened vz navigator and it was perfect . is there any way to tell if gps is working in the pp. is it possible that the gps device just is broken? and how can i tell
thanks
I've said this many times on different threads, perhaps I've already mentioned it here but I found Maps hopeless after the 10.3.1 update, it just kept losing my location. BlackBerry couldn't figure it out but they tried hard to find a resolution but I found by accident that some Android apps were interfering with the GPS on my Passport. The main culprit appeared to be Poynt, which at one time I used regularly. Once I deleted it everything went back to working as it should have been and now when I download an Android app I test Maps with that app open too and have found 3 more than have the same affect on the GPS. Don't ask me why this is, I have no idea. All I know is Maps is back to working perfectly and back to being the only navigation app I use.
