It should. How much you getting the batt for? Mine could use a new one too
I got it from eBay. Very reasonable. They ship from California. Also picked up a back cover. BlackBerry Maps-screenshot_20190812-200015.jpeg

That looks like a deformed (from removal) second hand original battery. Is that right?

If so, I'd have to recommend putting it in the recycle bin when it arrives and ordering an actual new one. I have an X-Longer one in the Passport and it is up to 'as new' performance.

Were there any dates on the "new" battery you received?

Have not received it yet. It is marked as new. If that is not the case, then back it goes. We shall see. Will report back once received. BlackBerry Maps-screenshot_20190813-100846.jpeg

Definately advertised as "New". We shall see. How does one read the dates on the battery? If new (old stock) it should be ok as it has not gone through 2,000+ charge cycles? No?

Age affects the chemical process in batteries as well...

I'd install it and just see how it goes, should be better than what you have, just might not be as good as it would have been four years ago.

Yes, definitely better than the original that's in there now.

I bought a new old stock battery for my Z10 and it was great. I've never seen a new old stock battery for the Passport so that's why I suspected you are getting a second hand one.

Doesn't it look deformed to you?

Anyway, enough interfering in your battery transactions. Wait and see and good luck.

Hahaha, I have never personally seen the Passport battery, so I am not sure what deformed looks like. Have watched the tear-down videos in preparation of "Operation - Passport Renewal" though.

Any pit falls I should watch out for when tearing her down? It has never been opened. Looks very straight forward, but looks are sometimes deceiving.

Major tip for the actual battery removal: Use a hair dryer on low setting for a few minutes to heat up the adhesive (which is usually VERY stubborn) then gently begin prying it up with a rubber or plastic spatula if you have. Just be patient and go slowly (that also goes for the whole process). Good Luck!

Thanks for the heads up. Will definately use the blow drier and will start working on my patience!

PS - Is it necessary to remove the sub frame or just the back cover to get at the battery? The tear-down video removes it all. Thanks,

There are some YouTube videos. I'd watch one first.

I have watched a couple. My question was, does the subframe actually have to be removed to replace battery? If not, it's a lot less dismantling.

    Google Maps. Attachment 445767
The problem with Google Maps is that when you start the navigation, the green bar at the top, and the navigation bar at the bottom leaves almost no room to see the actual map. It's clearly not optimized for a square screen.

Ah ok, good to know. I am actually trying to use the native map instead. I'm testing out the maps later on today. Should be a hoot!

Well gents. Got to use the native maps app and it worked well. The only little glitch is it had a left turn arrow and showed a right turn (which was correct). Do you find the turn arrow to malfunction often?

Magic Earth is way better. I can run all day with my Passport. Maps are updated and you can download offline.
Sure it's an Android port but I did a bunch of battery life tests and it is not doing much different than native mapping apps.
