Hello. Just a quick question. Is the BlackBerry Map reliable enough to use in 2019? When I use Google Maps, the devise gets hot. Thanks,

It depends. The maps haven't been updated in a few years, but neither have many roads!

What you won't find is updated locations. I only use addresses that I get from the Web or other sources, but I find Maps useful enough for general use most of the time.

What's really interesting is our home is 4 years old and a new subdivision and it is on the map. That's what leads me to think it has been updated relatively recently and might be supported?

Also, am I on the most recent OS?

Thanks for replying! Had forgotten what typing on a real BlackBerry felt like.

I think development was shutdown in 2015 but not sure how updated the backend mapping is as they were buying that data from TomTom i think

Ah,ok. Makes sense. Our home was built in 2015. Although google maps took almost 2 years to update the new subdivision. BlackBerry Maps was very quick on updating back then I guess.

Thank you. Good to know. It is a labour of love to get these things working, but they are a blast to use!

Still setting it up. Coming along though. Had to switch to my K2 as the battery died. By the way, can't post pics on CB from the Passport. Is there another version that allows it? BlackBerry Maps-img_20190810_1844096.jpeg

No there isn't. You would have to upload thru the browser. I could be wrong but I don't think that you can upload with the android CB app either.

Ok, that's a shame. I guess the web version you could? On Google Chrome maybe? It's just so clunky.

I just use the native browser if I need to upload pictures. Good luck with your new (old) device!

Thanks for the help guys. I missed the whole BB10 experience and always thought the Passport was the most beautifully designed phone in history, and I was right. Just wish I had had one back in the day. It must have been game changing.

OK thanks. Good to know. I have ordered a new battery, hopefully that will help the low run time and heating as the battery is 5 years old.

Did you do a Security Wipe and start fresh? If not it might be a good idea...
