I just ordered a white Z30 to have on hand as a backup phone. ( not for me -- I have the passport and LOVE it). We just switched to at&t and don't have any spares. Hubby and the daughter are hard on phones so a spare is a necessity. And couldn't pass up 225 for a brand new BlackBerry!! Never had a full touch screen BlackBerry but have a feeling hubby's HTC One may end up being the backup phone...

If the Passport has been selling so well, then why drop the price so soon after launch?

    Just wondering...

    Guys, here's question:

Amazon offers passport for $499 which is awesome price!
Now, here's the catch - I live in UK. this would end up as 352.

Amazon UK price is 480. so difference is enourmous. I do not allow myself to pay more than 400 for the mobile phone, because of my deep beliefs...

so 352 - is awesome price!.

    BUT

    Order Summary
    Items (2):GBP 352.43
    Shipping & handling:GBP 6.05
    Total before tax:GBP 358.48
Estimated tax to be collected:GBP 0.00
    Import Fees DepositGBP 71.69
    Order total:GBP 430.17

As you see - amazon.com puts in Import Fees Deposit of 71.69 and total price becomes above my Thresh hold of 400

ANyone knows - what that import fees depost mean, and what would happen in UK?
These are the fees that are charged for importing your phone in to the UK from the US. You're required to pay duties and taxes in your receiving country which are not part of the current amazon price.

Oh the irony: Amazon will diligently ensure you pay your full taxes, whilst ensuring that they don't pay their's

Black Friday is biggest shopping "discount" day of the year in the USA, I believe, so it a "Black Friday" sale... likely to be limited... imo

Not sure. Why not just ask Amazon if they'd be wiling to refund the $100 difference?

There may be a duty charge but it's hard to know for sure.

At least you know what it will cost if you get from Amazon. So you are bound to save a few quid.
