I use Navigon from the Amazon appstore.
I've got Navigon on all platforms, best navigation system imho.

MAPS.Me is very effective mapping software, only downside is that it's Android app.

Navfree is popular and looks nice but I think it is pretty poor actually. I tested it extensively for several days and it has a lot of issues.

I understand that HERE Maps is soon to arrive on Android platform. Currently its running on beta version. Unfortunately the beta version doesnt work on Passport. Hopefully it would on the final version.

Do offline maps really work the way they should? I remember trying this app out when it was more or less freshly released for BB10. On my Q10, I downloaded the map of my country, disabled my internet connections and wanted to explore the map, this wasn't possible unless I enabled the connection again, so I was questioning whether the app had *real* offline support or not.

Yup, me too. Navigon is a true onboard nav app that is fairly "polished". A lot of the free ones work, but there is a reason they're free....

An android app you can download thanks to cobalt232's playstore workaround.
For me it has been better before the last major update but maybes that's just me.
I think their Christmas sale might still be running might be interesting depending on the region you want to use it for.
You can find it also in amazon's appstore if you don't want to play around with playstore.
