    Hi All,

What would you recommend as the best native blackberry news (or informative blog) app to take advantage of the Passport's gorgeous screen? Ideally this app would be optimized for Blackberry Passport usage and would not require a subscription. As I am relatively new to the Passport apps scene, I am looking for a veteran's experience as I am confident various professionals take advantage of this device for news consumption.

    Recommend away please!

New York Times app is good. Adjusts pictures to Passport screen size.

Not an app, but the mobile version of Reuters is pretty good, and the quality of the content is helluva lot higher than CNN.

NYTimes is good, but you'll get mainly USA coverage and what they want to see.
BBC is good for the international coverage.

I was going to say originally 'CBC' but they will no longer support the Blackberry experience so...forgetaboutit!!

    One other item....
Globe and Maill has a good app in BBWorld.....just like flipping pages.
Turn you Passport sideways and it fits the screen perfect!

The National Post has a good one also.

I second feedminder (or rss savvy, the free version)

NYTimes also is a great app. I support companies who make native BlackBerry apps

Crackberry.com reader, great to read the forum on the go, you can also post pictures right away from the device, or attach screenshots! Much faster vs. the desktop.

    Search for IMDB
To look up movie ratings etc. on IMDB, look for the newest trends, etc. It is fast, but unfortunately anything that requires a login doesn't work. However, the orginal Android version, installed via Snap is work in a fluid way, and it's gorgeous.

These are not news readers, but work great on the Passport:

    Power Tools
You can set all sorts of things, led, vibration, notifications, geofencing (like I arrive home and it turns on the wifi) etc., headless (= runs in the background, you don't need to keep it open).

    Data Usage Counter
Keep tarck of calls and data usage, works well, headless.

    PushPlane
Send links and similar between your desktop browser and the Passport (given there's no bookmark sync between the Passport's native browser and other browsers).
There's another PushBullet client, but this one just looks way much better, especially on the PP screen.

    TrafficMonitor

This can measure the network speed. Great for checking network speed before Skype video calls, to see if there's enough bandwidth and ping.

gNewsReader is a great app I use with my Feedly account for all my RSS needs. I use Feedly in Firefox on my computers too so it's all synchronized.

I will put my vote behind Feedminder, what a great app for news, the rss feed also works for podcast too, I listen to my favourite podcast on it too.

NYTimes is a well designed BB10 app. I always thought The Guardian app was nicely done as well, though I don't use it much.

If you're in Europe, you might want to give Euronews a chance. It's been my favourite news app on BB10, their support has been great. I'm not sure whether it has been properly optimised for the Passport, but it does have a simple native design.

I tried all the rss readers on BlackBerry world and was not really impressed with any of them..

I've used gReader for years on Android and love the offline mode. I really like how it downloads the full article, if you choose to do so, and the Passport KB scroll works fine in the app.
