    Hi there, BB community

I have recently acquired my first BB phone ever; the passport silver edition.

I come from an iPhone 7 and wanted to know, as a lawyer, work a holic and geek/tech enthusiast, what the best apps for this device are.

    Best regards,

    Unleashed

You will probably need an android browser. I would recommend Kiwi or BEOL browser. Here are a few others that you may or may not use/like:

    - Connect to OneDrive
    - doo
    - Dukto
    - Email Saver
    - File Converter
    - Loyalty
    - PDF Converter 10
    - Ultimate Backup (must get this from Runisoft Website)
    - Umbrella
    - Unmissable
    - Weather Radar USA (if you live in USA or Canada)
    - BBVE (only need if you want to check the condition of your device)
    - KeePassB (cross platform password keeper)

These are a few of my essentials but ymmv. It's pretty difficult to know what others would use or like.

Welcome to Crackberry. I will suggest these great apps only from BlackBerry world. If you're into note taking I will suggest Easy Notes Pro by bbDeveloper and Parrot by Searing Media Inc. . If you like watching videos on Youtube you can get an app called YourTube by Nemory Studios. WorkWide by Brian Scheirer is good as well. For current events try out News by Vatoo. Need to store passwords then try out password Keeper by Blackberry Limited.

    I do hope you're aware that support for your new Passport (and every other BB10/BBOS device) will end in a year from now, namely December 31, 2019. If you do respect this, here are a few that I'm using ;

    Clipman
    Profile changer
Yalp store (used to download android apps)
    App Ninja
    Work Wide
Voice Changer with effects (android app)
    TeamViewer
    Snap2share
    Scan to text pro
    Call and Battery
    Screen Recorder

These are some of my main apps that I use, good luck!

    Thanks a lot guys!

    Surely very helpful stuff!

Does anybody happen to have an app which can tell exactly what apps or other are currently daining the battery and/or automatically kill these off?

    Thanks!

Just use the Device Monitor in Settings: Settings/App Manager/Device Monitor/Battery and or CPU. Why add any more apps?

Here is a small tip to help with power saving: Settings/App Manager/Application permissions/tap on any app, especially android and disable "Run when Minimized". You can do this with all apps.

Someone may have already mentioned, but don’t run too many Android ported apps since you don’t want to cause device to run hot. It’s not for certain but often mentioned, the device could lose mobile signal capabilities and be reduced to WiFi only device..

I’m sure that someone more IT focused than me could explain better....

Please give a chance to the native apps. Like the browser. You'll enjoy the hub if handling multi-accounts of E-Mail. Hub took a bit for myself to get used to. "Docs to go" Will be handy. Find myself using "Docs to go" for rough drafts and last minute changes to documents. You will find out that BlackBerry Blend is the best way to use your BlackBerry and Computer especially a computer running on windows. I found myself leaving my BlackBerry plug to an outlet. And using BlackBerry Blend to do everything consisting of E-Mail, Sending Messages, Updating my calendar, and File Transfers all from my computer. You can use BlackBerry Blend through your Mobile Network that is a plus with a laptop. Best of luck with your BlackBerry.

I can tell you that I have following installed from BB World:

    BeWeather Pro *
    BeMaps Pro *
    CB10 *
    Browsie Browser
    Blue Touchpad
    Silent Keys
    Headless Torch *
Docu Shortcut (* I use one shortcut it has created a lot)
    Basket *
    Turbo Reader
    Ghost Commander
    Crane Download
    NSR Reader
    TxtEdit
    aEdit
    Blackberry Express
    Connect to One Drive
    AutoCrop Scanner *
    SuperTube *
    Rad.io *
    Nobex
    CascaRun Pro
    Duolingo
    Foursquare
    App Ninja
WhatsFixer (only install if you use WhatsApp and have an SD card)
    WhereIs...?
    Proximity Photos
    Ambient Details

    Not from BB World:
    BEOL Browser (search on here)
    Yalp Store https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sergey...-apk-download/
    BitTorque (search on here)
    MEGA Downloader (search on here)
WhatsApp * (download direct from WhatsApp website)

    From Yalp Store:
    Kiwi Browser
    eBay *
    XE Currency *
    Box
    Deezer *
    BBC iPlayer Radio *
    BBC iPlayer
Skype (drains battery like crazy but I do need it sometimes)
Navitel (haven't tried it yet, but have for future use, like when BB Maps gets switched off)

I don't necessarily use them all the time, in fact some are there 'just in case' or for one-off use.
    Ones with a * I use a lot.

I would have to disagree with a posted about who advised a Youtube app. Don't be tempted by apps made by Nemory on your BB World exploration. They promise the world but often deliver little more than a pile of dirt with your tears, money and a dead battery mixed in. I wouldn't install a single one of his apps if he was the last developer on earth. If you want a YouTube app, use SuperTube which is native.

I didn't know that with Nemory and I had since deleted his only app I have. Thanks for the recommendation of SuperTube.

Damn! Thank you all for the neat recommendations!

Got some really useful apps and tricks. I love how detailed the options on the PP are. Definitely my phone for the next year(s).

The apkmirror link is for Android phones and NONE of those should be installed on BB10 phones.

Firefox sounds like a good option as a browser but unfortunately is reported to run quite slowly on our phones.

Kobo is available from BBW, although is an Android port

So you run the Android version of the hub, etc? You must be insane! Haha, I didn't even think this would be possible. I must say again that these apps are NOT for your phone. Are you sure you haven't made a mistake with this statement?

Battery Charger - one of the few which allow you to check battery health.
Dukto - good for sending files between the devices (might not work with Android).
Connect to One Drive - probably the last BB10 app for cloud sharing after Box stopped support.
Star Player - good media player. (Also check other apps of the same developer who supported BB10 almost to the end).
Work Wide - the development stopped too early but you might like the concept. It looks interesting on Passport.
    Navfree, Osmand, Maps.Me - maps.

Above apps are still available for download from BBW.
There are other good ones which I'd recommend but they are either can not be paid any more (as Neutron Music Player) or disappeared from BBW and should be searched elsewhere: Kindle Reader, Evernote, Camera++, Genuis Maps, Battery Guru.
