Bell Mobility story

Bell.ca has the Passport showing as $299.99 for 2-year contract, $749.00 no term. Interestingly enough, if I try to upgrade my phone and re-sign for another 2 years, I get $699.99 as my price. The phone is not yet available from them, it will ship on Oct. 1 according to their retention department.

I asked why if the 2-year price is showing $299.99 and I am willing to renew my contract, why I would be charged an extra $400. I also mentioned the Telus price as well as the unlocked shopblackberry.com prices, and she told me that on Oct. 1, the prices should be updated accordingly, that she didn't even know the device existed until I called because they "don't have it on their price grid".

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience.

*****EDIT: FWIW, I forgot to mention that unrelated to this, the Bell pricing for the Z30 and Q10 is all over the place. Z30 yesterday $129.95, today $0.00. Q10 yesterday $49.95, today $99.95. Changes by the day.

At least they gave you something. When I called Bell today, they said they weren't even sure if they were getting it at all! I'm to call back on Friday for more information :S

I went in store today and they did not had any dates or price. Just a "yes, we'll probably have it".

Then I went to the Telus store and they were setting up a demo, the guy let me play with it. It was priced at 750$

This all makes sense now, since Telus's exclusivity for the $200 price ends Sept. 30. Reminds me of when the iPhone 4 was released with the antennagate issue, and Apple gave out free bumper cases to anyone who had the phone, then you couldn't find an iPhone for sale until the day after that offer expired.

still 1 year and a half to go with bell. Buying the passport outright I'll be free to shop then :)

I got 8 months and then I'm free. I'm thinking I just spend some money and buy out the remainder of the contract and move my number to whomever gets me the best deal. So probably nobody since they are all in bed with each other anyway. Haha.
