I have Instant Previews turned on, both in Settings and in BBM Contacts individually but they're not working on the Passport.

    Any ideas?

I'm not perfectly sure, but I have this feeling that they don't come up when the actual BBM app is being used. I've noticed them not working and I'm pretty sure it's when I'm looking at channels.

This happened to me too. There's a third instant previews setting, somewhere in the hub. I found that bbm instant previews was turned off there. Once I turned it on, they worked.

In the hub > settings > display and actions > instant preview settings > applications > bbm

I have no idea why this was turned off or so buried, but that's what got it to work for me.

That's basically the same as Settings > Notifications > Applications > BBM, for which I have Instant Previews already turned on. Thanks for the help anyway.

I have the same problem, and I think it has to do with the fact that I restored a backup of my Q10 onto my passport (including BBM data). I should have just started from scratch, but I was lazy.

For all the things BlackBerry does right, the one thing they are absolutely awful at is desktop software. You wonder why they can't have a more stable and reliable desktop application like iTunes for iOS. Anyway, I like my passport and BB10 enough to put up with the flaws of Link/Blend, but it's still really annoying.

Back on topic, I'm hoping that when I update to 10.3.1, the BBM instant previews will be fixed. I get instant previews for everything else I've set them up for (email, SMS, etc.), but for some reason BBM refuses to work.

Lmao seriously iTunes stable and reliable??? :cantwatch:

I've used every version of itunes and it's the most buggiest, resource hungry app I've ever had the torture of using. I absolutely refuse to install that sorry excuse for a desktop software app.

iTunes isn't great - you can't do as much with your iPhone unless it's jailbroken (I used various iterations of the iPhone for years, and jailbroke most of them), and iTunes really limits you.

But you know what? Every damn time I had to restore the OS on my iPhone, or I upgraded to a new one, creating a backup of my old phone and restoring my new phone from that backup would NEVER result in any issues. It would literally be as if I just copied my old phone onto a new phone. My iMessage history wouldn't disappear, and my settings would restore normally.

There have been countless stories on the Passport forum of people who regretted restoring their Passport from a backup of an older BB10 device. I am one of those people. Even now, my contacts app has a dark background that refuses to change back to the light background no matter how many times I mess with it.

So while iTunes might not be amazing, I could at least rely on it to transfer data between devices. I like the freedom of BB10, but man, I wish BlackBerry's desktop software was more reliable. It is the worst.
