    When you send a photo by BBM it gets shrunk to a small size. The recipient can click a small button beside the image to request HD
    The image gets sent as HD and replaces the original image in the thread.

    Very nice feature. You can select which photo you want large and not every single one

    Can you turn it off... not sure I'd want to get request for HD copies all that often, as that could eat into data rates. But then I guess if I scheduled delivery of the HD copy to when I'm at home on Wi-Fi......

    yes. The recipient receives a small compressed version. They have a choice to request a larger version so Yes you are not forced into the larger version. This is an excellent way of doing it as it leave it to the recipient to request larger files. If you don't want the larger file than you don't need to do anything. Just keep typing away. if you want the larger file click beside the small photo and request it. You can even wait until you get home to wi-fi or where ever and go back in the thread and request it then.
