    OS version 10.3.0.1418
    Build #: 73508

Guys anyone having battery drain issues? my battery died 50% in 4 hours compared to 50% in 8-10 hrs before this os upgrade, I don't know if this is related to OS alone or some app, but the only thing I have updated recently is whatsapp and the bb updates on bbm I think. It is running on h+ on telus network but it has been running smoothly till now.

The usage: 21% standby, 18% system and 3.8% display

Can someone tell me what can be the issue?

    Thanks!

I've noticed my battery life has suffered since the update as well, but not to THAT extent. Hope someone helps you sort it out. Are you running a lot of headless apps, or many Android apps (sometimes, I've noticed Android apps don't fully exit when closed, and still have background processes running) installed?

Why are you running it on h+ and not on LTE?
The battery life of 8 hrs isn't too bad depending on your usage. It's definitely not good by any means.
What raises the red flag is the fact that battery life decreased after update. When did you do these updates?
1418 and 10.3.1.1016 are 2 of he best OSes battery life wise I've been on.
Seems like you may have a rogue app, but I don't see any running.
If the update has been over 48 hours, try a hard reset

LTE is not very stable, and it keeps searching for it which I thought would cause a battery drain. Rogers LTE is better in downtown Toronto compared to Telus. I did not do any update other than Whatsapp, bb calculator, etc. what came out recent days. No android app installed lately.

the only thing is System 30% compared to everything else which is either idle or below 1 %

Yah seems odd. It's not uncommon to have high System IF you just updated, but it seems that's not the case
I would therefore suggest the hard reset to see if it terminates possible rogue processes

In terms of usage, I played music for 30 minutes all day, no messages nothing else. Usually it drops less than 5% in that time period, the update has been done over a week ago, so it should have settled in.

Hello I had the same issues as you did. I did a device switch using blackberry link on my mac moving all my data and accounts.

Syncing everything possible. My phone got really hot a lot and my battery drained like water in a sink!

However I decided to do a wipe and not to transfer anything from my old device using blackberry link.

I downloaded yahoo and outlook (android) apps via 1 Mobile Market app
I then transferred my text message via sms backup and an SD card.

I transferred contacts from my android with the device switch app which can be downloaded from blackberry app store, android Google play store and apple app store.

With the device switch, you can actually transfer contacts, pictures, documents, etc.

Ever since I have had a considerable BIG improvement in my battery life!

I guess my email accounts and contact syncing, were draining my battery and also affecting my contacts names not showing on my call log or during incoming calls.

So my advice when getting a new device is not to transfer stuff from your old device to your new device with the blackberry link via your PC.

The email accounts, contact, email syncing and all that stuff affect the battery life and contact syncing of email contacts with device contacts cause the names not to show in the call log or the incoming calls

Hey when did you get your device?

The thing is I got my device the day the phone launched Sept 26, and synced through bb link, no issues with that up until now? I am not sure if the background sync is the issue here?

I will definitely try your solution if all else fails thanks, but I am sure it has something to do with the OS or some headless rogue app, just can not pin point wonder if there is some app or solution to this?

I see the update in a different angle. I noticed that after the update that the radio became "weaker" than the previous OS. This lead into continues searching of signal strength specially if you're using data.

Try to cut down on cellular data usage and use wifi as much as you can for the mean time. I think BlackBerry knows about this already and I'm hoping they will fix the radio on the next update.

Before someone jumps on me about this I'm not saying that I'm sure if it's really the radio. Just stating my observation after the OS update. I don't have proof whatsoever. Again, just my observation. I myself utilized link to sync everything from my Z30 to my passport. But I have good battery life as I don't turn on my cellular data often. Easily getting 16-24 hours battery life with the following usage:

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

I did notice this issue when I first updated my device to this OS. I just restart the device and all goes back to normal again. I also suggest that you disable allow device connection to see if that helps or not.

    Good luck

From the picture above it seems like you did the reset around 12 noon? It seemed to mellow down a bit but at the same time I find it weird to see you have 28% left but it's stating that you still have 20 hours remaining too? It doesn't look right to me.

    Here's what I have. 38% with 13 hours remaining.

Oh the hrs is not accurate, the 30 percent did give me an additional 8 hrs compared to the drain before. Tho, I used the phone mildly

Wow. I see high display numbers. I use my brightness at about 25%.
Also watch for things such as android apps running in background. I find certain android apps can be a big drain.

I'm getting confused now. What IS the latest OS? I'm running 10.3.0.908. Battery life doesn't seem all that great. When I first turned this bad. Boy on it told me I had an update available but I skipped that step so I could just use the phone. So here's the weird part, when I g o t o check for software updates, it tells me I'm running the latest software. So what is, in fact, the latest software?????? Lol

I fell asleep around 1030 last night. Someone do me a solid and let me know if the drain is normal or not? Is it the OS? Is it email? Is it the 2 android apps I have installed?

Scratch that. Nvm I know why it drained. I was on a phone call last night and forgot to hangup, and so did she.. but either way. Battery life doesn't seem all that great. Please answer the OS question. Thanks!
