I'm never ever seen or read anything here about this issue. BUT where do we take our devices to replace the battery as most lithium ion batteries which approaches end of life after about a year or 1500 cycles on average.
I'm just curious iff BlackBerry. Has a battery replacement service?

There will probably be a youtube video on how to replace those yourself or maybe your carrier?
I think saying the batteries will last only a year might be too aggressive, no?

Totally agree, when I finally retired my 9900 it was still on it's original 3 year old battery and it was still going strong.

There was a post in the news section not too long ago showing the PP being dismantled and where the battery was exposed. Seemed a bit involved but very doable.

Charging my PP every second night, at 1500 cycles that will give me 8 years. I will have long moved on to a newer BBRY. I don't thing battery placement will be of much concern.

Actually, replacing the Passport battery is almost as simple as a removable battery. I kid, I kid, but it is pretty simple actually. You will have to void any warranty in the process, unless you're very skillful or lucky.

I used my 9930 with two batteries (one in the pocket, one in the phone) for just over two years. I went through 6 batteries to maintain generally acceptable battery life. With the same criteria in mind, I'm on my third Q10 battery, thanks to it actually making it a day on a charge, unlike my 9930. Swapping out my Passport battery will be a reality within a year, and I'd certainly like a proven method to do so.
