Is poor battery life part of the bug list within the latest 10.3.1.xx release? Mine is getting worse and worse. No idea what the culprit is

Do you use Android apps ? They sometimes doesn't close when you close them and they'll drain your battery in background :/

I use many Android apps. Is there a way I can monitor their usage? My Passport is getting hot, so I know something is not behaving itself!

I have 10.3.1.1581 and since the upgrade I've gone from having my battery last from 7am to 8pm without the need to charge... to now from 7am to 2pm! I find myself charging around my lunch hour every day to avoid having the phone die on me I'm during the mid-afternoon.

I haven't changed anything as far as apps go, this was happening from day one of the upgrade. I thought it was just me playing with all the new features but once the novelty wore off it is still very poor performance.

Has anyone else noticed this? I've got a Z10 LE STL100-3 using Rogers.

I had poor battery life after updating. Found the culprit was the Amazon Kindle app. Deleted it and back to pre 10.3.1 battery life.

My device has improved and cooled down.

What I noticed/realised was that after resetting my device, and restoring from a backup, I had not fully ran/opened all of my previously installed apps. I think something in their settings was messing up my phone.

Now that I have opened everything, then controlled/stopped their ability to run in the background, battery life looks much improved.

I would have to say that my battery life is same or better!
Some days, I feel that the battery indicator doesn't move.
Forgot to plug it in one night and when the alarm went off! Oh no! I realized I never plugged it. It went until that day past 4pm!
Maybe the battery needs a good work out to help it.
Check what is on. location services for GPS does use a bit or power.

The real problem is what to do, if the next phone doesn't have the same battery life? Coming from a Z10 where I had to practically have the phone charging constantly? This great!

    Standard with any mobile os:

If you restored from a backup, expect problems.

My battery with that leak + flickering fix is much better. Plus everything is faster, including boot.

I can now have power saving mode on, on top of all this. Due to increased speed, it is still faster than my note 3 and as fast as or faster than 10.3

Expect problems having restored from a backup? Whats the point in actually backing up then ?

It takes a full two or three days for the system to settle down again. If you open your device monitor you will see that it is draining far more of the battery than normal.
If you only just recently updated, give it a bit of time to settle.

I found the battery life has improved about a week after updating to 10.3.1 depending on my usage I can still have 70% battery remaining at 5pm. My phone is taken off the charger about 7:30am.

Don't use the phone nonstop but do take calls, BBM, check personal email account, and check several apps through the day.

Go to the ''device manager'', click on any 3rd party app, then click ''change your app permissions'', then toggle off ''run when minimized''. Do that to all android apps and that should work.

Install an app from BB world called taskmanager. It is an android app that will tell you what other android apps are running in the background and it will allow you to kill them.

Had great battery life on 10.3.0 averaging between 24-30 hrs for moderate use. After the 1st week on 10.3.1 that has increased to over 30 hrs and push over 40 most charges. Probably about 50+ android apps, 4 email accounts all push with manual sync and immediate email/calendar/task updates, 4GLTE, WiFi/BT always enabled, brightness about 50%. Basically no aggressive settings to save on battery life. Simply get great life.

On the app BatteryAnalyzer, I found myself debunking the myth that trickle charges are better than fast chargers because it doesn't heat up the circuitry as much (and wearing out? I don't recall the precise claim).

There is a value I get shown called 'Battery Health', which it describes as the current available battery capacity. Upon using the slowest trickle charger I could scavenge (tried one at 300mW, and another at 500mW), this value started dropping quickly. Upon returning to the use of the packaged 5V 1300mW, this value remained the same, then started to increase slowly after 100% charge.

I can't say I understood all the things that happened, but I think anything that gets me better Battery Health will probably do something positive for other PP users.

I have 1715/2408 combination and I find my battery great. After full day of heavy usage, still over 20% battery remaining.
I do have a question, since I'm coming from android, is it possible to find out what is device screen on time, like on android devices? BlackBerry monitor only shows percentage, not time.

Yes. You are not alone. Most passports have this problem in 10.3.1585.
Mine was perfect on 10.3.0 now it acts up every 2-3 days. It usually starts draining the battery when on standby. If that happens, I restart the phone and everything is OK for a few days.
Hopefully, the FREAK fix also fixed this.

    Hi all!
I use only a few android apps (the same apps I used to use befor upgrade), and my Q10s battery is draining as hell after I upgraded to 10.3.1.1581. When I look into BBVE everything seems OK. I dont know what is wrong with this phone...

I was quite happy with battery life allthough I sometimes noted increased unexplained system activity in the background. Not much but still... Anyway I can live with that.
But I cannot live with a phone that completely discharges itself all of a sudden overnight. And this happened last night for the second time in a month. With nothing running minimized or whatever.
This is bye bye Blackberry for me.

Some weird stuff has been happening... First I just noticed my data services was off for some reason. I didn't even realize it because I usually connect through WiFi at home and work and never really used my phone in the car for data stuff.

Have a look at the screen shots, shows my data flat lined for almost a week. That means nothing through mobile but I did use the phone all the time over WiFi.

Next, today my battery seemed to last better. Notice the screen shot showing almost a whole day use again, but most on battery savings even though it is set only to start at 50% battery?

I also made sure I set all apps to NOT run when minimized... But I can't turn off Google Services and settings and Office 365.

Any idea what is going on? Could the data issues have also been mucked around with things? How did it turn off? I never changed it.

Here it is over the last few days... notice the steep drops in power, then all of a sudden battery savings mode from 100% power? Since when? I have it set to start when it drops below 50%. Have a look:
