I was wondering if DACs work with BlackBerry 10 phones especially the Passport? It would make a great combo if it does. Please see this article (search the terms below in google and it's the first link as I can't post links yet):

dar audioquest dragonfly v1.2 dacheadphone amplifier review

They were able to get the AudioQuest Dragonfly 1.2 to work with Galaxy 5 phones but it would not work with iPhones or iPads... Please let me know if you have had success using a DAC with your BlackBerry. Thanks

I'll have to give it a shot on my FiiO E17. I doubt it will work though.

Yes. I have the FiiO E17, and it just works! One great thing about BB10 that I like.

Yes. Looks like the max is 16-bit 48Khz according to the LCD readout on my DAC.

    Would any USB cable work?

I use a standard USB cable connected to my DAC which is connected to a USB OTG cable to the Passport.

You will need an OTG cable from your passport USB to connect to USB of your DAC

I am so surprised that this works, but also so pleased. Can't wait to test.

I was thinking of trying this out: hifimediy dac sabre (search in Google as I can't paste links and it's sold on Amazon as well). I think you would need a volume control on the headphone cable though.

Thanks everyone. I just ordered an OTG cable on ebay.
I doubt it would work with my audioquest dragonfly, but will give it a try
Dragonfly requires a powered USB port to work flawlessly.

Is this using the standard media player? What media software do you use?

I actually tried the standard music player and Neutron. When using Neutron, my DAC does display the max fidelity of my 24-bit files but no sound comes out.

If I use the built-in music player, sound does work but only at 16-bit/48Khz.

Any other suggestions on a music player to try? Neutron's interface is terrible.

I use the Android version of Spotify and it works using usb OTG with my Fiio E18. I want to use a more portable solution with my Passport like the Dragonfly or the Hifimediy DAC if possible. I have not been able to get the Neutron player to work over usb.

Yep. That's connected correctly. A shame it doesn't work.

So, you get no notification that a USB device has been inserted when you connect?

I do get the notification though. I guess I might have to get a DAP eventually.
