Ohh so that's what the 90 day thing is about. Well, technically they are not supposed to be doing this as of February 11th, but good luck arguing that.

As far as third party unlocking goes, BlackBerryCodeSource seems to have unlocked a couple. Take a look at this thread, posts#11 and 13: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...obile-1000927/

You could just go in and have them activate it. That's what they did for everyone who brought a Passport before Att had them for sale.

Fantastic! How does one go about purchasing one outside the USA? I've been dying for this device, living in Singapore.

Tried to get it using one of those US mail resenders but even buying it outright I have to sign up to an AT&T plan..?

I had mine unlocked by BlackberryCodeSource.com and they did a great job, the one thing you have to make sure you do is activate the device using a AT&T SIM on their network at least once before you submit the unlock request, so the unlock code folks will see the IMEI registered on the network. It was 34.00 US and worth every dime.

I failed to this and tried it with a brand new unactivated one and I ended up using a friends AT&T SIM to activate it and I had the unlock code from them the next day. Just trying to make sure you have a smooth transaction based on my experience. Using mine on T-Mobile USA and I get 4G/LTE.

I used them to unlock my AT&T passport and they did a great god, Sean help me through the entire process and I could't be happier.

    Oh wow thanks!

So I'm planning to use comGateway to order this device unactivated and mailed to me, then use an AT&T prepaid sim card purchased off eBay to activate it...THEN use blackberrysourcecode to unlock it..

    Sound legit?

Usually you don't have to activate it to unlock. But since the AT&T passport is so new we have seen with some models that if it's not been activated the IMEI# comes back as NOT FOUND and the Unlock Code is unavailable.

This only happens with some models but it has happened before so it's safer if it's been activated on AT&T's network.

You can still try unlocking if you can't activate it and hopefully it will be unlockable still. But incase it isn't then activating is the way to go.

I would double check with blackberry source code but I still am not 100% sold on the fact that you have to activate it on AT&T's network first. Only one person has reported that you had to do that.
Thanks for the advice. I'm ordering one from Best Buy and getting it mailed to my Uncle's house in California. Any AT&T sim should be able to activate it yeah? Am just going to get one off eBay which hopefully does the trick! At T Nano Sim Card 4FF to Bypass Activation for iPhone 5 5S 5c 6 6 Plus | eBay
