The Q10 charge was small and compact, don't know why Passport's larger, seems backwards to me. If there is no difference other than physical size, might as well use the Q10 charger for traveling.

I think it has to charge the passport faster since it has a bigger battery

Unfortunately I don't have mine yet, but if you can post the specs of what the charger shows or a picture of it, then I/others could provide some guided speculation for you :P

It is a higher amperage is it not? Something around 1.3A? Which would be pushing past the previous small size of BlackBerry's 500mA and 750mA chargers that previously were so small...

I haven't seen the amp voltage of the new battery charger but the only thing that I can think of is that the passport has a much bigger battery. If they would use the current wall adapter then it would take too long to charge the passport. The did the same thing with the playbook.

Exactly! You're answering yourself. The higher the voltage, the bigger the size

I just got my Passport, and it is the same size as the one that comes with the Z30. Larger battery means larger charging adapter.

Can you post picture or amp/voltage of the passport charger.
Does that mean that all previous BB chargers won't be good for the passport?

They will be, but it won't charge the passport as fast as the passport's charger

    It'll be just slightly slower

Anything showing 500mA or less I'd avoid, just because it's always seemed to give me issues :\

It has to charge a huge battery without taking all day to do it.

    My Passports is 5V 1300mA
    My Z10s is 5V 750mA

I'd assume because the Passport battery is huge it needs a bigger charger to charge it in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm not taking pics, it's hard enough to read as it is.

There are a few threads on here as well with people who have all charged their BB10 devices with the PlayBook charger as well. I've done so while on work trips with no issues and will most likely do so with the Passport in the future.

I have 6 of those chargers, totally fine. Full Battery in an hour on a Z10.

the usb charger attachment that came with my z30 burnt out the thrd day of use.

But to the original op. The new charger is a higher electrical mhz for the larger battery.

Think the style changed after Q10.
I seem to have another charger same shape as Passport charger must be from Q5. Also have another like Q10 must be from 9790?
Power and shape do not relate.

Whoa. I've never seen that before. I would think it was a fluke and may be a warranty issue. I've never had any problems with any chargers at all.
