I purchased the AT&T Blackberry Passport when it was released. Worked great for a while, then all of a sudden I started having issues with the battery overheating. The phone would get really hot and the battery would go from 100% to 70% in about 25 minutes of non use. Called Blackberry and they had me logging files and sending the logged files to their Blackberry Servers. Finally ended up getting a replacement phone from AT&T. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have the same issue with the replacement. Anyone else having or hearing about this issue?

Usually an OS reload solves the problem. Pretty amazed BlackBerry didn't tell you to do that.

The OS reload is the ONLY thing BlackBerry didn't advise me on. Since I have another Passport from AT&T, I'll keep the OS reload in mind if this one starts doing the same thing. Thanks for the tip...

Two separate nights when I placed my AT&T Passport on the wireless charger, I woke up with an extremely hot phone and battery at ~75%.

Didn't happen after that. I make sure the phone is centered, but I don't see why being off by a few centimeters would cause that.

In normal day to day use, doesn't get hot unless I'm taxing SoC with an Android app.

I have 2 AT&T Passports, one on the OS it shipped with and one on 10.3.2.680. Both run at normal temperature.

OP, did you check which apps were using up your resources? Keep an eye on your apps...

Hi madmdx. My new passport has been doing this since 2 weeks after I got it. Any thing I need to watch out for when I do the os reload? Cheers

PS the Samsung lover on this thread....i'm ex iphone...BlackBerry is great....just wish I could have best of both!

PS anyone know how to 'undo' on a BlackBerry? I used to just shake iphone...no search results can tell me if that function even exists!

I have read a multiple thread regarding at&t passport heat up fresh out of the box. Most of them solve it with os reload. It is silly that you have to reload an os for a new phone fresh from box. But might help few people that don't want the hassles of replacing the phone, might want to try reload os first.

For the OP a quick over heat and drain of the battery is usually caused by an app running havoc on the phone.
Not that it's a bad app, but just stuck cycling at the same command over and over. And the phones trying to resolve the command.
I've had the issue happen many times on all different OS's.
Sometimes on brand new phones, sometimes after a OS update, and sometimes just out of the blue.

    The fixes for the problem,
Shut down the phone and turn back on. Not a restart, but an actual power off and wait a minute or two then turn back on.

    Reload the OS.

    Or factory reset.

    Also on BlackBerry 10
We may find that Android apps may be a culprit. And that certain ones may always cause the issue. In those cases. Nothing can be done except avoiding that specific app.
