So used to it....

Here's another question. I'm so used to a full touch screen phone now. Is it still worth getting a Z10? I tried the Z30 and it's too heavy. If it
wasn't for my injury, I might have been okay with it. I'm just weighing my options before the Z10's are all gone.
Love it, just find the corners a little sharp depending on how it's being held. Don't know how I survived with the little Q10 screen for so long :)

Totally used to the size. I had a 24 hour learning curve to get used to how to properly touch to get the touch functions to work and to get used to the small keyboard in between the V and B but honestly. it is perfect. I LOVE flick typing on it. Its what I have always dreamed of.
About that, by some, coveted one-handed-use thing: Does anybody feel that it could be worthwhile to add an alternative, secondary, keyboard mode, for such situations, basically comprising a regular touchscreen keyboard, scaled to only a portion of the screen width and attaching to the corner of your choice (...to suit both right- and left handed people).
You could switch to this using, say, a hotkey, or a voice command, or immediately upon covering a whole corner of the physical keyboard with the base of your thumb.
With the pkb taking a momentary rest whilst in one-hand mode, you'd get the whole area that it takes up for grip... :7
I thought it will take a lot longer time for me to get used to the size. But within a few days, I already feel fairly comfortable with it.
Typing this hybrid KB still take time to get used to. But I am getting better much faster than I thought.
Cheers

By the way, I only have mine this past Monday. I am also only 5'4" so my hands aren't big by Any mean.

I'm used to the size and new keyboard and loving it!

Seems like you like typing on your Q10 because it's the easy way out of typing on the passport. Use the passport primarily and you'll get used to it. It all takes time.

Been using it for 3 days now. Completely used to it now. My Z10 seems so tiny now!

Used to the Passport size now. When typing and taking pictures/videos, I'm holding it like the hilt of a sword cupped in both hands... so secure and yet with thumbs available. I take out my Z10 from time to time to check the time and see if the light's blinking since the Passport resides in the front pocket, but I walk while reading from the Passport in one hand. It's an awesome device.
First few days to adjust and learn but gets more amazing with each passing day... brilliant phone!

I'm totally accustomed to it now, even to the 'pocket grip' needed to pull it out of my jacket or pants without tossing it to the floor. My typing speed has definitely increased, and flick on the keyboard has almost become second nature. I'm also VERY happy to notice that keyboard shortcuts like hitting the T for top or B for bottom are back on this keyboard.
My coworker today at lunch opened up an Excel sheet and was pinching and zooming and getting frustrated. I calmly opened it on my Passport and displayed it easily. She called me a name, but I know she was jealous. :rotfl: Especially since she begged for the phone she has and now absolutely hates it (she came from BB and now is waiting for her contract to run out to come back.)
Coming from Z30 it took me no more than an hour to get used with the size of the passport.
It also seats more comfortable in my pocket than the Z30 but definitively it's more difficult to get it in and out of the pocket .

Too bad about the Passport, but you gave it a try anyway. Like others who have responded, I'd say wait for the Classic, but then again, a new Q10 for $225 is a pretty good deal, and the Q10 is still an outstanding phone. I don't know if you're a dedicated hard keyboard person. If not, you might think about getting the Q10 and saving your money for the next all-touch BlackBerry, probably in the spring of 2015.
As for the OP's question, I've had no trouble getting used to the size, especially since I've been waiting for something like this for years, well before this phone was even rumored. My wife just got a OnePlus One, also a very large phone. That's a nice device too, and a great value for the money, but I'd still rather work with the Passport screen.
One-handed use is not a priority for me; in a pinch I can do it. I'm becoming more accustomed to using voice-to-text in those situations. It works very well; better than I thought it would. I've discovered, for example, that I can punctuate by saying "period" and "comma". I don't know if the UK edition has "full stop" instead. As long as I don't write about periods and commas, I'm okay. Fortunately, I'm neither an archeologist, a gynecologist, or a typesetter, so it's not a problem.
I have my phone since last Tuesday Oct 7, I must say when I saw it I thought it would be difficult to get used to coming from a Z10. Reading from the forums before arraival I was actually a little scared from what others are saying specially the not so good stuff, maybe because of that actually it has been fantastic and more easy to get used to than I expected. Right now, on my fourth day I can say I'm not looking back to my Z10 or any other phone for that matter. BlackBerry has done a terrific job with this phone.
PS: I ordered the phone, hard case and both slimport adaptes (the HDMI and VGA) and already used them without problem, also pluged a USB thumbdrive with an adapter that I already have and ir worked spectacular. Also used Blend and it also worked great. Only thing left to check is miracast, but have to get the miracast receiver first.

I have very much gotten accustom to the size. It really does take about a week. Then you realize how useful it is. I can't imagine using a narrow screen now.

I'd say go for the Q10 really. It's quite a cheap price. You will pay at least 3x times this price for the Classic when it is out. So unless you can save up money and you are not in a hurry, go for the Q10, you'll probably be able to sell it for $200 when the Classic comes out reallySadly I couldn't get used to the size of the Passport. I have very small hands and tried to get used to it, but it was hurting my hands. Plus I have an injury on my right hand. So, I had to return it. I'm back on my Android. But wanted to ask you guys, I can get a brand new Q10 for $225. Should I buy it or wait for the Classic?
Sorry for asking on this thread. I didn't want to create a new one for just this.
Thanks.
How will you sell a used Q10 for 200usd? It's running around 225usd to 250usd unlocked, new. And since when is the Classic going to cost 750usd? More than the Passport?

This is so freaking great. QNX in tour car lmao

Took me three days to get completely use to it. Now my Z10 feels so dinky when I pick it up and I'm especially confused when people freak out about the size. I'm like "What? You're phone's not this big?"

I agree!! I'm totally addicted to the keyboard on my Q10, but finding the screen a little too small now. I use my BB to read a lot of documents, so I'm REALLY looking forward to the newer, bigger, stronger Passport! Can't wait for Bell Canada to get on board and offer a good deal....
I love the phone and have adjusted well. The only thing I wish would improve would be the call controls to be more one handed capable. When bringing up the call screen (being that I am right handed) you have to reach across the screen which is awkward and somewhat increases the drop potential. Dialing is a common one handed operation as well and having the number pad to the left side causes the same issue.
Other than that, 2 handed the phone rocks. Waiting now for a holster so I can let it run naked and free.
HaHa.I love the way my Z10 fits in the cup holder on an electric golf cart,I was wondering where it's (passport) going to go.I guess everybody wishes they had my problems.lol
