Just curious if BlackBerry is selling only old inventory that will eventually deplete like the red did...

Many people on these forums receiving phones made early 2015 in early 2016- so yes, inventory is old.

I got my first red Passport in July 2015 & it was made June 2015, got my second red Passport in November 2015, made in June 2015, so it seems as though they stopped making those around June.

As for the current line up, I see it sticking around to be honest. They have corporate clients who still order BlackBerry devices constantly, so unless there is a blast sale, they still will continue to manufacture & sell the Passport.

I just ordered an OG Black last week and the build date was 2/2014. Actually debating on whether or not I should return it.

Was it a factory seal packaged, if so why would you return it?

Production has either stopped or will be stopping this year.
Whatever is being sold is what's left on their shelves. I would be surprised to see carriers offering BB10 devices after mid to end 2016. The newest BB10 is what? The Leap which is now almost a year old. The Classic and Passport before that which are now a year and a half old. The hardware is obsolete in BB10 devices.

Going to be sad to see it go. Hopefully the Priv and whatever else comes down the line for BlackBerry can keep things going at hardware.

There was a guy on these forums some time ago saying that the date on the boxes are boxing dates, not manufacturing dates. He said he worked in the manufacturing business, so BlackBerry makes an initial production run of a large quantity of devices, then boxes them in batches every so often. So, for example, a box that has late 2015 and another that has early 2015 could actually both have units manufactured on the same run prior to both those dates.

I just looked on my SE passports box see no date but possibly the hugest coincidence in the world. What is the IC: numbers? Are they all the same for SE or passports or each unique? Whatever it is, it's a 4 digit number and mine just happens to be the exact numbers in order I use for almost everything as in my lucky numbers, found that crazy!...

I bought mine Passport SE in November 2015 and it was built on August 12, 2015 so it was not old stock at all. Rocking 24-7 with my Passport SE & retired Z10.

IC is Industry Canada, our equivalent of the FCC's device certification arm.

IC : 2503A-RHR191LW means that Industry Canada has given BlackBerry's (2503A) Passport SQW100-4 (RHR191LW) the all clear.

Unless BB states on their website that the build date is THE stated (box label) build date I would take it with a 'grain of salt' .

Since majority of electronics have some numerical info on the exterior of boxes, and also marked on the actual product be it on external panel or internal.

I don't have PP yet, so interested in this build date (confirmation).
