I'm still waiting for my Santa to give me a Passport!
I am a carpenter currently using iphone4s in Lifeproof case and love this case. The 4s is still like brand new when I take out from the case.
But it's time to move up. I just fell in love with Passport!!
I would like to see how you all pros like me working in dusty, sweaty environment but still love Passport. Any case or ideas to share!?
I'm clearly aware that the Passport isn't made for ppl in construction or similar (The Blue Collar!) so no bully on that please!
Ziplock bag? Leave it in the truck? What else !?!?
My best thinking now is a holster has a tighter cover.

Carpenter here. Using this beast since late October and I love love love it! I don't baby the phone. I bought a cheap holster in NYC and it's nice and tight elastic fit. Got an S-Line cover and screen protector. Only thing I do is when I'm cutting wood, sheetrock whatever I put phone in my pocket. Oh and on ladders now too,lol. 12 foot drop and not anything at all. But I won't do that again.

Really is a great phone for the trades too.

What is S-line cover?
Yea I keep my 4S in my zipped pocket on my Carhart overall pants. But I don't think it's dust tight.
It also get sweaty in the pocket when I work hard and get hot!!

Autobody Technician here. I use it to look up service bulletins, search for known defects, photograph unseen damage, etc. I keep the phone in a ziploc bag as there is often paint, chemicals and glue on my hands and the environment is very dusty. It's a sturdy phone, so no reason a skilled tradesman shouldn't use it. My co-workers have Galaxy's and iPhones and if they are not in an Otterbox case, they're broken. As long as BlackBerry is going to build purpose built phones, a ruggedized version (like the Panasonic Toughbook) would be a good seller.

Civil infrastructure here ( dirt, water, steel and concrete construction sites) . Use it to view drawings on site, take progress pictures and email them real time to our engineering team to troubleshoot issues on site, and I fill in a Word based Daily Site Report and email it to my regional engineer with progress photos at end of day.

So it has replaced my laptop on site now.

Plus placing and answering calls all day, and receiving, reviewing, and replying to anywhere up to 60 emails a day while in the field plus text messages which it seems lately more and more of our client base is using.

So far just protecting it with the OEM hard shell. Thinking about adding a glass protector. Seeing some micro-scratches now.

Contractor here in Los Angeles. Can't wait to get my hands on the Passport. Have been happily using Z10 since April 2013 and now Z30 for the last couple of months. Heard rumors that AT&T will offer it in February and my upgrade is right after that so fingers crossed although I don't really want a phone on contract because of AT&T's history with updates but if I can get my hands on it I am no stranger to leaks now hehe. BlackBerry!

Industrial Mechanic/Millwright and I work in a shop with high cast iron dust in the air. The Passport stays in my chest pocket of my coveralls most of the day. Have blown all the speakers on all the BlackBerries I've owned since the 9900. That includes the Z10 and the Z30. Just a matter of time till this one is blown as well. But as far as using it for my job, it's great. Does everything I need. The USB on the go is probably the sweetest feature. As my Pruftecknic alignment equipment provides a PDF file, I can give that report directly to my client without having to boot up th PC. Great phone as well. Really clear and easy to use in a shop and industrial environments.

Industrial sales (proprietary pipe fittings). 50/50 time split between conference rooms/engineer's offices and time in the field/shops/ training sessions with pipe fitters, welders, boilermakers, etc. Passport is a champ in the field for photos, showing videos and photos during training, sharing tech data/drawings/etc. BBM Meetings on a moment's notice when issues need resolved.

Currently in a BlackBerry leather sticky case ( whatever it's called) but I'd die for a Seideo Convert Combo! Will likely grab a leathe flip Tetded/Stilgut, PDair or maybe a PielFrama if they release one soon.

I would recommend full body protection first. Like Ghost Armor or other similar protection that hardens overnight once applied. I have a blue shirt with a collar in case anyone asks

Forklift service company, had Passport for only 5 days. Use for emails/calls etc, also I saved a couple of PDF service manuals to SD card to see how they view on this beast and it is Fantastic! I used to use my 64GB Playbook to view all my manuals, but unfortunately this is one less reason to carry the old girl, will just use it for media now. So yeah, this Passport is great for tradies too! Highly recommended business tool.

The holster was from a street vendor in NYC and has no name? I think it's for a Palm as it has a stylus ring as well, was $5? And I got a good screen protector as well from Amazon. As I mentioned I don't baby the phone. It's on my hip 98% of the time. When I'm doin a lot of cutting or in a dusty environment I just slip it in my front pocket. Here's some pix. What do you use the stylus pen for? I'm just curious.

I've just bought the Turtleback holster, Tudia cover and tempered glass screen protector in ahead of arrival of my Santa,,, ;-)
That's the best set up I can think of now.

I'm either in my (very small) concrete plant or on a site, so lots of dust. While my employees do most of the physical work, I do pick up the occasional trowel or grinder. My Passport is in a leather flip case, and I specifically looked for one without a speaker cutout. Looks great and protects well. Eventually the cement dust will blow out the speakers (like iron, it is conductive and magnetic), but the case should delay the inevitable at least until the contract is over.

98% in the holster, 2% in my pocket. Lol. No it hit an epoxy coated concrete floor and I can't find a scratch anywhere. Lucky and happy. I rarely ever use the stylus, a few times when trying to press a tiny button on a website and sometimes I'll let my daughter do some drawing app with it. Otherwise not much use for it. Does work well though and was free so I just keep it in the ring.
