    3:2 would be a horrible decision for a device. You either go with a tablet or a phone ratio not something in between. I think the MobileSyrup article greatly exaggerates the BB/Google relationship in regards to CTS certification. Google was never going to bend on 1:1 ratio. They'll bend to Samsung in an emergency on allowing green battery status for the fixed Note 7s but not something basic and far-reaching as screen ratio.

    ... But what could be the reason for Google not allowing a 1:1 ratio? Or they simply dropped due to inconvenience as the article states?
    The article says "the amount of time and effort required to make Google Play Services work at such an unusual aspect ratio for essentially one device was deemed not worth it".

    The only ratios you're likely to see in a new physical keyboard phone from BlackBerry are 4:3 or 3:2. Since 4:3 is further from the standard 16:9 than 3:2 is, it is likely to be more of an issue

    What is so attractive about the android passport that is not about the Mercury. Other than Mercury having a chance of never being released.

    The unusual and attention grabbing form factor.
    The wide screen also provides a better reading experience

    Wow I can't believe all these sell outs trying to go for android OS smh. Instead of petitioning blackberry to revive BB10 OS as well as the app gap. Those new blackberry devices aren't real blackberries anyway. Just androids with blackberry stickers on them. Mediocre at that.. BB10 till the wheels fall off!

    There is a reason why no one makes a 3:2 device even tho its allowed by CTS. Developer buy in. You have enough issues with 4:3 support, ergo you get apps that don't support tablet.

    Well, the demand for an Android passport in here does put a question mark on the credibility of those who slang Android into s**t & vouch for bb10.
    If u so support bb10, y bother for an Android at all ?
    Even if u do bother for an Android phone wait for the Mercury, why change ur beloved bb10 device into that cr*p equivalent OS, eh ???
    This double standard explains Samsung sales & CB mourning.

    There is not much effort needed to make Play Services run on that aspect ratio. The proof is the existing workaround for Google Play Store and Play Services that I've created.

    The only realissue is the way how a square device is being checked in by Google Services Framework. Because of the 1:1 ratio, the device will report as a device with a small screen layout (identificator 1). The effect of this is, that many apps in Play Store are displayed as incompatible or don't even show up. The only way to solve that was to spoof the screen layout during the checkin process in BlackBerry Google ID (which actually is the emulation of the Google Services Framework) on a OS10 device..

    Code:
    Code:
    Configuration configuration = context.getResources().getConfiguration();
    int screenLayout = configuration.screenLayout & 15;
    if (screenLayout <2) screenLayout = 2;
    Of course the device props could simply report a false value (2), which would be the easiest way to go. But even that would be kind of a hack, woudn't it?

    So here's the loophole...

    Google states any non-Watch Android devices must either use a 4:3 or 16:9 screen resolution.

    Non-watch, put a wristband on those Android Passports and your good to go. Lol

    We can get an unoficcial android passport, but...
    1. We need a team of experts that have significant experience in embedded systems and soldering skills
    2. We need *just* to hack the bootloader, modify the sources, write own drivers, do *some* research...
    3. ?
    4. Profit!
    So, it just mindblowing hard without the prototype.

    You forgot to mention that we could start a crowdfunding on Indiegogo. We would see how many ppl are interested, get some funds and start the fun
    Maybe in a year we could load 6.0 on the SE (daydreaming here but hey, it's free and fun ).

    This is the real question. If you could find a way to do that, I would imagine that people would be lining up for you to convert their passports as BB10 ages.
