I know it is just rumours etc but if blackberry end up putting android as the primary OS on future devices, do you think they will update previous devices to android too?

I'm guessing, but I'm thinking "some but not all".

There would be no economical benefit in them doing so. In fact it would be a loss all around if they did do that.

Big no. More support costs and it won't run well on devices with old specs.

Only the Passport will have Android OS in my opinion.

In fact, i'm okay with that because I always had a bad feeling using Android and my Q10 is perfect the way it is.

There's also the possibility that Android isn't the primary OS, but a more full fledged version than our present runtime. It would mean real Google services on our devices instead of the fix Cobalt has unselfishly spent so much time modifying for us.

    And that possibility is 0.0000016%.

Every piece of "evidence" I've seen has been nothing more than a glorified rumor. Or did I miss statements from Blackberry stating this?

I seriously doubt all those Snapdragon S4 devices won't get an update. For the Passport I think it might be possible, but not really in form of an official updatebin the near future. I can imagine though BB publishes some sort of developer update or beta prgram so experienced users owning a Passport are able to install it.

Ask yourself what would be the motivation for them to do so? Testing/QA is expensive and time consuming, and they aren't going to get more money out of you by doing so. It would be nice if they did do it, but companies in dire straits can't afford to be 'nice'. Also most people with a BB10 device at this point are die-hards who would shell out for a new device, so giving them Android would potentially take away sales.

Now, if they Passport is still being sold when Android launches, I can see them doing it. As there is the potential that it rejuvenates Passport sales, and the work is done to get it on the Passport anyway, so it is easy to give it to existing Passport users.
