So here is the digest of what I am about to post:
A lot of apps from Amazon, that can be downloaded using 10.3 leaks on Z10/30/Q10/5, are blacklisted for the Passport.
Apps like Kindle, Netflix or Printershare (one of the current free offers) cannot be installed on Passport through Amazon Appstore.

It is unbelievable that they would blacklist the Passport, an official 10.3 device, while users running a leak can access them no problem. It is equally unbelievable that I can download these apps in .apk form and it turns out they run flawlessly. Heck Kindle even recognised my Amazon Appstore and automatically logged me in.

I just spent an hour with Amazon CS reps troubleshooting this issue. They hardly understood what I meant at first, but eventually we got to the core of the issue: they cannot find any reason for the blacklisting, but they cannot undo it either.
I have contacted a few devs about this issue (not only large apps are affected), but it seems they do not understand either how to get their apps "approved".

Muqtadir: Hello, My name is Muqtadir. I'll be happy to help you today.
Could you please let me know the name of the App you're referring to?
    Me:Yes I can
Kindle for Android, Netflix, Printershare. (can only install on Q10)
Mangarock (can only install on Passport)
Muqtadir:Thank you for providing me with the information Glenn. I would need to transfer this chat to the Appstore team who would be able to assist you better in this regard.

Keishamei:Not a problem. Can you please tell me more of the issue?
Me:Ok I will explain with Kindle for example:
On the website it says Compatible with Q10 but Not compatible with Passport. But if I install Kindle (from .apk file) to my Passport it works very well.
The problem is I cannot see it from the Appstore on my Passport, so I have to find an .apk manually
    Keishamei:Thanks for the info.
Me:I would rather do it in an official way
Keishamei:I'm sorry however I'm not familiar with Q10 or Passport.
Are these features on your device?
    Me:How do you mean?
Keishamei:May I ask on which website you saw that the Kindle app is compatible with Q10 and not with passport?
    Me: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...UvbUpU10897396 full link)
There is a small box on the right side of the screen that shows "Compatibility with your devices"
Keishamei:I see. Thanks for the info. In this case, I'll be needing to connect you to our AppStore Department for further assistance. Please stay connected. This will just take a moment.

If I need to explain more just say so.
Sachin:Sorry for the delay. Thanks for your patience.
So you weren't able to install the Kindle for Android App, right?
    Me:Yes
On my BlackBerry Passport I have access to the Amazon Appstore, but Kindle does not show in it.
And the same applies to Netflix and Printershare. On my BlackBerry Q10 I can install and use these apps so I know they work on BlackBerry devices.
Sachin:Okay. I'm checking on the possible troubleshooting steps. Allow me 2 minutes.
    Me:Go ahead.
Sachin:Thanks for waiting. I've checked and see that the Kindle for Blackberry is the app that should work for your device. But unfortunately, the app has been removed recently due to which the problem. I'm so sorry about the inconvenience. However, you may use this link to check our availability of Kindle apps for various platforms :
    Amazon.com: Free Kindle Reading Apps
Me:So if the app comes back it should be called Kindle for Blackberry in the menu?
    Sachin:Yes Glenn.
Me:And what about the other apps I mentioned?
Sachin:Are you referring to Netflix on your Kindle Device?
    Me:Netflix on my BlackBerry device*
But it should be the same app, so yes.
Sachin:A member of our App Store team will be the perfect person to help you with this. Let me connect you to a member of our App Store team. It will only take a moment.

You are now connected to Munira from Amazon.com
    Me:Hello Appstore team Munira!
    Munira:Hello Glenn!
Hope you are doing well today.
Me:I am, but I will be better if you can help me out of course
Munira:I'll try my best. I believe this is regarding the Netflix app on your Blackberry?
Me:I will state my issue again shortly: I use the Amazon Appstore on my two BlackBerry devices, a Q10 and a Passport.
On my Q10 I can download and use Netflix.
But on my Passport this is blocked, I cannot find it in the Appstore.
Munira:Yes Glenn. As part of the BlackBerry launch, numerous apps were blacklisted from the device. These apps are incompatible and would not show up as part of the search due to this.
Me:I can understand that, but my question is: Why are they blocked?
If I install them from another source to test these apps, I can see they are working very well.
Munira:I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. However, I currently do not have the information towards why this decision has been made after the launch. You may want to get in touch with developers of the Netflix app and the Passport for specific details over this.
Me:Sure, thank you. I just find it very strange that these apps work on my Q10. Should also be blacklisted I think? :s
Munira:I was checking on some of my resources here and see that there are instances of the blacklisting mostly on Blackberry Passport device, this may have been an internal decision on blackberry's part after the launch for this model.
Me:Well thank you for your time and effort.
I will try to sort this out through other areas then.
Munira:Its my pleasure, Glenn. I'll let you know personally if I find out more on this or if there are any new updates regarding the apps on passport.
Thank you very much for your understanding with this.
Would there be anything else I can look into for you today?
    Me:No not really, thank you.
Munira:Alright then, thanks for reaching out to us Glenn.
Hope you have a great day!

Are you sure about this? I'm using the Amazon App Store without issues on the Z10, the Q10, and the Z30. I also haven't heard this from anyone else in the last few days. I'm waiting for my own Passport to arrive as well, so I can't confirm from my end for now, but will be able to in a few days.

Added info, here is a screenshot from the Amazon website (I renamed my Devices Q10 and PP for clarity, by default they show as "Device for Android" or some such name):Amazon Appstore & Passport: Unbelievable situation!-untitled.png
Maybe the reason no one here mentions this is that most of us use Snap anyway. I do as well and have Kindle, Netflix, Printerhand and more running flawlessly while Amazon keeps showing they are not compatible. *shrug*

Maybe I made the title a bit too strong, if they did block certain apps for a good reason, they had better inform their support teams more, or show some disclaimer somewhere.

Same problem here. I could not believe that Kindle App is not available in Amazon Appstore for Passport! Installation via Snap worked without any issues. Wonder if this is a mistake, or a deliberate action by some dark forces. Definitely needs to be flagged and addressed by Blackberry.

I really hope this isn't true. I won't know until I get my Passport. I just opted to get it instead of the iPhone 6 Plus, but I don't need another botched, crippled BlackBerry device so I'm going to be less than mildly pissed about this.

Phone BlackBerry support. Apparently, all Passport buyers get a month of support. We better complain about this now before it gets too out of hand. Also, PM Bla1ze here to verify and put this on the front page if true. Seriously, WTH BlackBerry?!

If i recall correctly they (Amazon) is trying to convert as many apps as possible for best compatibility for the Passport. These might be the few apps they havent quite got done yet. It sucks that they dont work and many who are not aware of side loading will be very upset.

Seriously, somebody PM Bla1ze about this. We need to know what is going on, why, and when the issues will be rectified. I'm sick of having to dance through hoops on BlackBerry to get apps, and finally the Amazon solution was official, but what's the point of saying you have all of these apps if now many are blacklisted from the Passport, especially ones that are perfectly working.

This can't be a coincidence. There must be a concerted effort to do this, and we deserve to know why it's being done.

I wonder if perhaps they are working on compatibility optimizations for the Passport, which is the only officially supported device at this point. Either way a statement indicating this, and that eventually everything will be available,.. sounds like something reasonable to ask for.

This may explain some reviewers poor scores on apps and compatibility blaming 10.3 OS, when most of us on leaks have been running these apps flawlessly for ages.

Very troubling news - no big deal for most of us here who just sideload from snap, but from a consumer standpoint it looks like a severe lack of basic apps. They don't know that we have been running the same exact apps on the same OS with much OLDER and SLOWER hardware for ages, and its just an issue of the apps being flagged as incompatable.

At this stage in the game, it is probably more important for BB to have those apps available for download on day 1 even if they are not optimized yet for the 1:1 ratio(which is my guess on what the issue is), then to just not have them come up in searches at all.

Please fix this! My Passport comes in Tuesday and I'll give it another check then and follow up.

What region and OS release? Also, others who had issues, could you please post your OS and region. Could you also test Netflix and post whether you are using a shipping version of the Amazon App Store or if you updated it in any way.

I would not get all worked up about it, I don't think Mr Chen would risk the success of the passport because of an app issue in the Amazon store. I tend to agree it might be because they are optimizing the core apps for the passport. Just my two cents.
