i've been searching for a fix the passport camera focusing problem.

it started when I upgraded to 10.3.2.2639/2474.

I later autoloaded to 10.3.2.2789.

then I installed via sachesi the 10.3.2.2252 camera bar fil.

still no fix.

I've read that returning the phone would to, but I live in Honduras and bought my passport through Amazon.

any ideas.

and yes, I've tried the finger pressing focus on screen and "locking". still no focus.

How far are you zoomed out? Because focus has a very hard time focusing if zoomed all the way out just to pick up on a small object from across the room.

Since the problem started after a software upgrade then it could be fixed by software tweaks... I wouldn't be so quick to return the device.

Try changing camera resolution or back and forth between front and rear cameras or play with the aspect ratio settings to see if this resets the camera.

There's a thing u might need to try, if you have the tools and know how to disassemble the phone (easy thing to do) you'll find that the camera lens can be removed
Turn it a little bit to remove it, but don't, just a little bit, trust me 99% that'll work, I've done it on another devices that had problems with focusing

done. opened passport check connections. but nothing changed.

My only complaint on my SE Passport is the camera not focusing in a consistent manner. There needs to be a fix asap. I have some shots that take 15 seconds to focus. My wife's Note 4 takes about one second to focus on every shot.

The passport camera as any other phone wont focus properly if there isn't enough light. Try enabling the flash or in a brighter ambient.

I have the exact issue, the rear camera just won't focus...I was hoping the software updates would fix this but nothing till now. It started from a software update and it's same till now. Very frustrating..

Try a device wipe or reloading the software.

If it doesn't fix it, shake the phone a bit and pay attention if you hear a slight rattle or noise from the camera, as if something was loose. The focus will work again, although this is only a temporary fix and you'll have to do it almost every time you are about to take a pic.

I really hope it's not the latter case and an OS reload fixes it, otherwise, the tip I gave is your only "solution" or have the device replaced. I faced a similar problem, had to opt for taking it to my carrier (it was annoying having to shake the phone before taking pics) and ultimately got a replacement: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=1026236

i've tried and done about all the possible solutions i've seen online. i've read i'm not the only one with this issue and hope it's a software issue.

i had the wavy issue happen before it went kaput.

Try holding down space bar and letting go when you want to snap a pic! Doesnt fix your software but might help with the focusing

nothing. just takes the picture.

what does happen when I press the screen for a focus shot, the screen gets a little bit darker. it dims.

Me temo decir que es el mismo problema de hardware que tuve. Nunca supe que lo caus�, solo comenz� tal como lo narr�, la imagen de la c�mara era como en olas y luego dejo de funcionar el enfoque. Prueba agitando el dispositivo con la aplicaci�n de c�mara abierta, eso permitir� que enfoque, pero no es una soluci�n permanente.

Si conoces a alguien bueno para reparar tel�fonos, podr�as arriesgarte que lo abran y revisen. De otro modo, contacta a Amazon y tal vez te puedan enviar un equipo de reemplazo. Yo no tuve m�s opci�n que llevarlo con mi proveedor, quien a fin de cuentas, me lo reemplazo, ya que no lo pod�an arreglar, o eso dijeron.

Siento que este sea el caso amigo, pero no tiene caso que esperes una respuesta que no va a arreglar el problema, preferible que sepas que es un problema de hardware.
