    Hello fellow BB user's,

I believe I am having issues with the "hold to stay awake" gesture. I have the tab switched over to on but it seems that my screen will dim out when I'm still reading.

I tried moving the my Passport around throughout the reading process but the screen still dims out. Please note that I tried gentle "normal" movements to practically waving the phone around.

I can only recall once that the phone did stay awake when it was about to dim out and that is with me moving it.

    For a better understanding:
    - i am holding the phone when reading not placing it down on a table or stationary object
    - i am moving when i am reading
    - my screen time out is set to 20 seconds
    - i ran all gyro test on BBVE and it all passed

Is anyone else experiencing this? Would this considered to be a software or hardware issue?

    Thanks for the inputs

Looks like it's just us three with this issue...

I'm hoping it's software related so an update will correct the issue.

OP, what OS version are you running?

Advanced interactions are fine on my Passport running 10.3.2.2339.

I'd say it was OS related, but I don't recall having any issue for the brief time I was on. 858.

Nope, not for me anyway. Just tried it with one hand only but still no good. Besides, mine's that big I need two hands to hold it

    ***UPDATE***

i called blackberry tech support yesterday regarding this. i had to take a screen shot to indicate the "hold to stay awake" function is on and another screen shot showing that the device is not in battery saving mode. the tech guided my through the sending them my device log. the process was easy and quick. i was told the problem will be escalated to a higher trouble shooting team that will review the screen captures and logged activity report. they will determine if this is indeed a hardware or software issue.

the rep that was assigned to me told me it will take 12-24 hours for a response and he will contact me asap. this morning i got a call from the rep. the problem is indeed OS related and will be corrected in the next OS update (fingers crossed).

he hinted that if more people contact them regarding this the quicker the problem will get resolved. i suggest anyone who is having this problem contact blackberry tech to file a report. tech number is 877-552-5532.
