What are your display actions set to? Screen shot of them will work.

Everything on except Show Read Filed emails. I'm telling you man, I have tweaked all these settings.
I'll take a look at it tonight and get back to you. Will you use pop or imap? Or just imap?
Posted via CB10
I gmail settings do you have the folder selected to show in imap?

Yup. And no, I'm not willing to use POP. I access Gmail from multiple devices and that will not only complicate things, but it will prevent seamless syncing.

I think I might have found out a way to make it work for you.
But first I need to know are you looking to have the 30 day expiration that Gmails trash folder has?
Posted via CB10
Elaborate
Never mind, you can use it for the trash folder also.
You actually almost had it correct with your delete setup. Unfortunately, what I believe is happening, your Passport is recognizing that your deleting the Emails. So I return, it spits them off the Passport, but Gmail is hanging onto them so when you go back into the folder it then refreshes and allows you to see them again on the Passport.
Give this a try, I think it will work for you if all settings are set up right and your Passport works like mine. Lol
Go to hub
Go into the menu settings
Select Display and Actions
Go all the way to the bottom to hub instant actions
Change email option 1 to file
The back arrow out until your back to the hub
Go to upper right corner in hub
Tap the check with three line icon
It will bring out the delete icon and a file icon
I'm assuming that the original emails that come from Gmail are sync to your Passport thru the inbox or important folders from gmail?
If so, then on we go, please read the following before trying
Now that you see the delete icon and file icon along the right of those emails.
Tap the folder icon instead of the delete icon.
To the left It will pop up where it wants to file the email. Then to the right it will have a file icon with word move under it. And to the right of that it will say undo.
See attached picture.
As soon as that pops up, tap the file icon Move.
It will then open up available folders to move your email to.
Select the one you want to send it to.
It will then move it out of the inbox and to that other folder.
That way Passport still recognizes it and isn't deleting it.
And then when you go to do the search from the main inbox your Passport will still be able to find it without having to refresh the folder first.
This should solve the issue.
And if your phone behaves like mine did while testing, once you set that folder to move to, it will continue to move there by default until you tap the file icon Move again and choose a different location.
Hope this helps.

Shawn, maybe you're confused with what I'm trying to accomplish here. There is nothing wrong with my archiving or deleting settings on Gmail, they are correct. What you're pointing out in this last post is how to change the quick action buttons. Filing the message using a quick action button is no different than reading a message, hitting the "i" to file, and then selecting the folder.
I have all folders synced, which includes Inbox, Sent, Archived (my solution for All Mail), Starred. All the messages are there, if I browse to the respective folders through the Hub dropdown. However, once I file a message, either using the quick actions you just screenshotted or via keyboard shortcuts, the messages are no longer searchable from the top level of Hub.
I appreciate your help, but I think this may be a weird limitation with Gmail.
I understand what your wanting to accomplish.
But based off your OP you set up the delete icon to archive using gmail.
The problem with having it set up like that is its dumping it off your Passport, but Gmail hangs onto it.
So when you go into the drop down and select that folder your refreshing that information from gmail every time as though it's new to the Passport.
But like I said it's only going to work if your phones running like mine.
I just tested that file Move icon option on about a dozen different emails and it work each and every time.
And when I did a search from the main hub it found each and every email I move thru the Passport.

One last option is to remove gmail from the phone power off and back on and log back into Gmail to see if it fixes your problem.

I'm not sure what you're referring too, and "The problem with having it set up like that is its dumping it off your Passport, but Gmail hangs onto it" is not true. That's not how IMAP works, you're thinking about POP. I have Gmail set up so when I delete from the Hub it deletes from Gmail servers.
I'm not trying to troll you, but you just wrote a post basically explaining how to file a message. I've been doing that since the first day with my Passport. The problem is, once a message is filed to any other folder than the inbox, it is no longer searchable from the top level of the Hub. I have to navigate to the Archived folder to conduct the search.
I should ask, do you have Gmail imap set to
Auto-expunge On?
Posted via CB10
Also try logging email off Passport turn off phone, turn back on and re loading gmail
Posted via CB10
No, it is off. There is no way to maintain deleting emails from Hub+Gmail servers if auto-expunge is on, it defaults Gmail servers to archive instead of delete.
I just set up a brand new Passport this week, and it was happening for my other 2 Passports. Don't think it's going to change anything.
I'm telling you man, I know you're trying to help, but we're going around in circles.
That's the problem right there.
I have mine on in Gmail.
If you turn it on in Gmail settings do you see how the default for archiving them is grey out?
I think when it's turn on the archive function is turned off. And than the phone dictates what happens to emails.
Also I deleted the file that my Gmail was archiving them to because I didn't need a direct archive function.
After those two things above are done you should be able to have your search across all folders from the main hub.
It's your Gmail settings causing the issue.
Also for giggles set the pop to the ones I have shown in my screen shot.
Yeah yeah, pop doesn't have anything to do with imap.
But mine works for the way you want to use Gmail and yours doesn't. And your settings are different from mine on Gmail.
Your Passport is all set up the same so it's not the phone.

What was happening on them? The search was working correctly from hub or incorrectly like your phone?
Posted via CB10
No it's ******* not, man. I'm done with this conversation. I know you have good intentions (or you're trolling me for fun and trying to get this response, which in that case, shame on me lol) but you are:
1. Wrong
2. Unaware of the settings you're changing
3. Don't realize the settings you believe have something to do with SEARCHING messages in the Hub have nothing to do with it at all
Read this https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78755 . When auto-expunge is on, and let's say you have a Gmail message in the inbox, deleting it from the BlackBerry Passport witll remove the Inbox LABEL. Now the message will be label-less, and with Gmail's interpretation of IMAP, the message will now reside in All Mail, effectively archiving it? Get it?
I mirrored your settings just to humor you, and it started ARCHIVING my messages instead of DELETING. HOW WEIRD!?!?!
Yes, the option in greyed out, but as you can see, the bullet is filled in for Archive the message, because that is the DEFAULT.
It's seriously like I'm beating a dead horse. You somehow don't realize after repeat attempts to explain that these settings have literally nothing to do with the search function I'm trying to conduct. All my messages are synced, back to 2008. However, searching at the top level of Hub only seems to search the Inbox. I think this is a bug or a limitation with Gmail.
You're trying to draw conclusions and correlates from two separate items and think that applying settings from one affect the other in some magical way. It's blatantly clear, but you either don't see it or refuse to accept it. I'm changing my settings back to what I had before, because changing them to your screenshot above not only broke the correct deleting function, but didn't fix the main problem of this thread.
We're getting absolutely nowhere. I'm done responding, have a good one.
Don't know what to tell you either.
As those are the settings I run.
And I can search every single email in my Gmail from the main hub search.
Excluding Gmail archived found exclusively in All Mail.
And when I hit delete on Passport it deletes them and sends it to trash in Gmail.
Yet my phone has the address info on it for imap and not pop.
So maybe I found an issue on my phone and gmail to make it work in a way you want it to work.
Who knows. And like you say who cares.
Your trying to tell me things also that I already know about the imap and pop. I've read all that stuff in Gmail.
But the one thing I can say is your Passport is reloading that fill you go into everytime.
Also, my Gmail settings don't work like Gmail describes. You see my settings and they don't do what imap is supposed to do. But my sync isn't running like pop is supposed to run either.
But what do I know. I can search from my main hub in every folder and delete when I want to delete from Passport, sending it to trash. But sync across every device I have as though it's running in imap.
But like you say, I have no clue what I'm talking about.
Good luck
Cheers!
