I use Playcloud. This gives me access to the shares on my server on my home network.
Find it in Blackberry world.
Thanks Patman, I tried out Playcloud, but can't see how I can access a drive on a local wifi network without seeing it up with ftp access. Can't I treat it as a local drive like you can on a PC when you can map a network drive?

Map the drive on your home computer and access it through that.

You need to do it like you would normaly do when accessing things on the net. Some sort of device sharing your device like the example above.
You could also use Link and point to a map on that USB device.

I'm looking for such option my self.
WebDAV and Playcloud is working, but it would be much smarter if the Devicemanager would allow us to link up to an external drive.
Tried BB-work-drives which in theory should do this sort of thinks (yeah BES required) sadly don't work under BES12-Cloud which I'm on as well.
There is only one oldlish app that did allow me to access a external HD over local net and that's the "Super Filemanager" http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/20079009 linking external folders like //drive/share/ works for copy and moving files, but as I say the BB FileManager would be the best suitable app if it would support this sort.

To browse network files from your Passport, you need to install a SMB client on the Passport. Look at apps such as AndSMB, Ghost Commander, Network Browser, et al.
FTP, maybe?
sadly not very convenient to use...
an app that works and integrates like BOX or Dropbox would be a nice way to go, but such an app is not available.

I use Link and Blend alike. No need for a vpn, just let both apps run on my work client machine.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I didn't want to leave my PC on all the time, so had dismissed the Link option. Android file manager looks like the only option - really surprised that BlackBerry didn't offer a BB option.

are you talking about the setting here?
settings->storage->access using wifi->enable
I do this, then I set the workgroup to same as computers on wifi network and the phone + sd card all show up as network folders. It's great for getting to phone files without launching bb link/blend.
What options are there on the linked USB drive for network connectivity?
BB10 variants of AndSMB Pro and AndSMB-HD Pro are in BlackBerry World. I have not tried them.
Hobgoblin thanks for your suggestion of MyExplorer, this works exactly as I had hoped. Just had to put the name of my NAS drive into the 'computer name' field then add user name and password and Bingo! I had access to the shared files alongside my internal directory and SD card.

I tried myExplorer, but it kept failing after several minutes on a 5GB file. Then I tried AndSMB, but it didn't have access to the SD card, which was the only destination I had with 5GB free. Finally I just set up an FTP share on my router storage and used PlayCloud to access that. So far that seems to be the best, at least for large files.
