I live in an apartment complex where internet is provided. Unfortunately, I don't have access to forwarding ports.

Chrome remote desktop works great in this situation, but I'm guessing it's heavily integrated in Google services. It will show my desktop on my Passport, but the connection will hang and won't complete; patching doesn't help. Obviously, it works fine from my an Android device or a Windows laptop.

    Any other alternatives?

Many Google services work, through patching or luck. You're now the second person to give me an option that requires access to ports.

I didn't need to touch the ports to set this up

I'm using TeamViewer. For now, this will work great.

I just spent a few hours troubleshooting this, for those that use TeamViewer you may find this handy.

For some unknown reason, TeamViewer allows you to start the program on Windows startup but not minimized. I wanted a remote desktop viewer that would start automatically, but I didn't want to have to minimize it myself.

I tried creating a shortcut and selecting Run Minimized, but that didn't work. I tried using Windows Task Scheduler and adding /min to arguments, that didn't work.

I finally found a nifty little program called NirCmd. You call it through command line and it offers a bunch of useful stuff. Anyways, if you're interested, make a new text file and add the following to it:

nircmd.exe exec hide "PATH TO TEAMVIEWER"
    nircmd.exe wait 2500
    nircmd.exe win close title "TeamViewer"

Save it and change the .txt extension to .bat to make it a batch file. Drop it in your Startup folder and reboot windows. TeamViewer will open and then minimize to the system tray.

    Mission success.

You may try a R-HUB remote support server.
