    Hi guys,

I was wondering how much of the screen was used for a 16:9 video, after calculations I realized it's actually just 5.6 mm narrower and 8.25 mm shorter than videos played on an iPhone 5.

That's a very small difference, so anyone who watched videos on an iPhone 5 should not see any real difference. The black bars give the impression it's much smaller.

That's correct.. 16x9 video on the passport is completely watchable.. but the black bars top and bottom definitely do give that feeling of small.. it's all a matter of perception.

i found watching 16:9 quite nice. the inky blacks on the screen, and the glossy black screen glass edging mean the black bars are actually a little bit tricky to spot work out where they start I think. Short version - 16:9 vids look great.

If you had no problem watching videos on an iPhone 5s, there should be no reason why watching video on Passport should suddenly be a an unpalatable problem. It will be only slightly be smaller. Better yet, if you had no problem watching a video on iPhone 4s, there should be absolutely no problem with video on Passport since it would come out larger on Passport.

I was pointing it out because j
I'm some reviews it came up as a downside. Yet we never heard that in review about the iPhone 5

I did a bunch of this math on the weekend with a screen size calculator I found on Google. Compared to an iPhone or Z10 you really don't lose much and in some cases gain a bit. (You do get a greater screen area overall in most cases)

In reality watching video on the Passport is not as bad as some have made it out to be although it is not ideal. The brilliantly sharp screen helps.

I see no issue with this. Note that almost all feature length films are actually filmed in 2.3:1. Which means that even on a standard phone or tv you would see bars.

If anything I would just be happy not to rotate the phone sideways every time. Kind of liberating.
