Please tell me about the whole picture?

For me, it serves no purpose, this phone is DOA. It wants to be prestigious, yet it sports Q10 specs. The Q10 was presented in January, released in May 2013, that is 1yr and 8months ago!

I love my Q10 but i'll welcome the passport specs, the OS+Android Runtime need that extra power for a better experience and interaction.

So here you are, polished and premium body, on top of an almost two years old Core...

Who buys that! And please don't start mentioning the middle east, dubai etc.. you probably sell 10 phones there in total...

This Porsche device has an identity crisis and it will dust in the back shelves of the very few Porsche clothes shops around the globe (most of them are in airports)...

It's obvious you don't know what you are talking about. Are you comparing the specs of Porche to the Q10 or what? Do yourself a favour and do your homework or research thoroughly before yapping publicly. "Similar" does not equate "the same". 1st Class seat and Economy seat in the same Airplane does not mean they are the same.
Have you ever bought a premium product or service before? If you have for instance flown 1st class in an Airplane before, you will know that those that fly premium can justify paying more than twice price just to be set apart from the masses. Believe it or not, there are tons of people out there that are not budget conscious that will buy this Porche phone. "ARE THE GRAPES SOUR"?

There is simply no excuse for ignorance.

Good point - How many buy it and what's the value to the company? How is that balanced against what may be negative impressions of BB by releasing a $2500.00 phone? Maybe Im wrong and people have a positive impression as a result but as a consumer when I see $2500.00 in a headline about a phone it doesn't strike me in a positive way.

Places like dubai and UAE they are very common and sell a lot. Many shiekhs buy them. They are much better than the vertu phones etc and are very unique. Then again blackberry is very big there.
I know a few people that have bought this purely because they are uncommon and probs won't see another.

I don't know sales figures but i can imagine these Porsche phones are popular to the rich.

I'm glad they sell these higher class phones because as i see it, makes the company more unique. Don't see apple selling handsets as unique as these.

I love all of them produced so far. I plan on buying one when i can afford one just for the exclusivity factor.

Living in Dubai I agree with most of your points, except Vertu is yet another league. Ain't no Porsche to cope with that!

Vertu phones are only good for looks and customization and having unique metals etc

You can have all that with a proper OS and at a much cheaper price with the porche design phones.

Why do people buy a Caddy over a Chevy, with kinda the same style car, becasue it is a nicer vehicle and it is different than what others have and if you can afford it why the HELL Not! Still, the Vertu has nicer materials, build to order, the famous concierge service and lasts much longer. I like the Porsche Design phones, but they only feel like half the step compared to the TI or Signature Touch for example. The OS is Android now, if you don't like the UI you can put any UI you like on it.

Nooo don't get me wrong! Lovely phones and very customisable but when i tried one it left me with a bad experience. It just wasn't any good lol apparently now they changed the OS.

Chancing upon this thread is like the argument about watches.

Cheap digital watches can tell the time as much as very expensive swiss mechanical watches, digital watches like G Shocks have many more complications than say a swiss mechanical watch but the swiss mechanical watch costs so many times more and yet there are so many who buys it, why?

Some even say oh with smartphones nowdays, one doesnt even need a watch anymore. Really? I for one love watches, both G-shocks as well as expensive simple swiss watches. I buy them as well, why? because I like watch and the engineering and intricacies of the swiss watches. Does a 20 grand AP have 100 of times more functions than a G-Shock? No of cos, it has even lesser complications but yet costs so much more and people are snapping them up all over the world. Why?



Simply because people like it, simple as that.
