I'm looking at buying a black P'9982, RGE111LW from a company in the US, but want to make sure it will be functional on our H+ & LTE networks in Canada.

I believe the P'9982 only has 2 variants ("sub-models") - one is for North America and the other is for Rest of World, but I don't know which frequency bands each one supports specifically. CrackBerry user raino (http://forums.crackberry.com/members/raino-3089745/) seems to be the expert on Models and Supported Frequencies of various devices (he has detailed charts on Z10, Q10, Q5, Z30, Passport, and Classic variants).

Oh, p.s. I've got a RoW P'9982 and it definitely gets LTE in Canada.

I recently bought one and found out LTE is not working in the Middle East . The model is RGF111LW . I think it is Canadian.
Is there any way to change the settings so it works with other LTE frequencies?

Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know the supported frequency bands are built into the hardware so I don't think there is a way to make it work with other LTE frequencies if it doesn't already.

Did the op every figure out if the BLACKBERRY PORSCHE DESIGN P'9982 RGE111LW will work properly on Canadian networks? Specifically on Fido?

    Thanks!

I was interested in this and just compared between the Canadian and UK sites and they listed these bands..

Does anyone know what sub-model of P'9982 works in Canada?-img_20150715_015204.png

Mine matches the UK model and I do not get LTE with MTS in Canada.

So how do we check what the specs of the rge111 phone are? And if they match Canadian operators? It sounds like you got the UK version and not the American version of the phone?

After a quick google search, it appears that (in Canada) Rogers (and thus Fido) uses the 1700 and 2600 LTE bands. I'm no expert with this sort of thing but each P'9982 model supports one of those bands so I would assume that either model could get LTE on Fido?

Hi Thorsten...since you mentioned the expert user in your first post in this thread, I ended up PM'ing them to get their opinion. He seems to suggest that the RGF version will be better compatible with North American networks than the RGE version. Although also says that RGE version will have LTE work in certain areas depending on the network.

Thanks for the follow-up, one thing to consider is that the majority of "North America" is simply the USA. I'm not familiar with the terms RGE/RGF, I know the P'9982 has 2 models: STK100-1 ("Rest of World"), STK100-2 ("North America") so I'm assuming the RGE/RGF are just another name for these two (which one is which?). I know I have the STK100-1 model (NOT the "North American" one) and it gets full LTE bars on Bell. I didn't do any research on American coverage and carrier bands (here is where Raino's opinion should be factored in) but I know specifically that in Canada, Rogers/Fido uses the 1700 and 2600 bands and the -1 model uses the 2600 band and the -2 model uses the 1700 band (see Pcmx's screenshots above). I know Bell only uses one of the bands supported by the -1 model (the same one Rogers uses), and I have never had any issues (but I am also in Southern Ontario, the most populated and well-serviced part of Canada, so I don't know if it would be different in other places). As I have said before, I am no expert, I'm just trying to be as helpful as I can with the knowledge and resources available, but as far as I can tell, I would think that either model would work in Canada on Fido (I would be more confident with the -1 model just because it works well for me and uses the same band).

Also, note that the -2 model is the one made for North America, so I see no reason why it would be a problem either.

You might want to check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Looks like 1700 big one in the USA, whereas Bell Rogers have both 1700 and 2600 (but Telus only has 1700).
    (Fido is under Rogers)

    this version: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00G...droidcent08-20

That should have no issues with Fido in Canada then?

I read MTS uses LTE 1700/2100 MHz and I have STK100-1 so that's why no LTE for me but at least I know why now

Thanks a ton, I am super excited!

That makes sense about your phone but I am sure it's fast enough even without LTE? I am just glad I am on Fido/Rogers cause it being a big one I hopefully won't have any issues with LTE.

You should have no issues as long as you're not planning on switching to Telus

I don't intend to switch and if I do it would be to Bell or something so I am good there. Got an email saying it's shipped today, so let's see how long it takes. Looking forward to getting it.
