The EA games on Bplay don't use the full Storm screen. Instead, half the screen is taken up by the keypad. This is the case whether you run compatibility mode or not. These are lazy ports for the Storm.
When I wrote Bplay and suggested they provide more transparency into what the game experience was like (i.e. show a full screen shot, call out the use of keypad in the description), their response was - "Our pictures are meant to be pictures of the game, not pictures of a specific device playing the game."
You're surprised that companies do dirty tricks rather than fix their products if they don't have to?
If I were you, and you wanted things to change do a proper blog type post and try and get it on the front page of crackberry.com, it will have much more impact.
second that. if you're looking for games designed to optimize the touchscreen, screen size and/or accelerometer, steer clear of most bplay games for the time being.
they should be clearer in their descriptions, but i guess that's expecting too much these days.
If you bought the game, dispute it with your cc company...
i actually got bplay to issue a refund, but it took a couple emails back and forth. dude played dumb and wanted me to explain why their depiction of the games are a little misleading.
agree that they should have demos - of course, then they'd likely see sales drop and they can't have that!
I purchased Tiger Woods golf from Handango a while back and had the same problem. I reported the problem, and they refunded my money, no questions asked.
I purchased the Liesure Suit Larry: Love for sale when I saw that it was available for the Storm.
Downloaded, installed, Played the game... It was actually working as well as could be expected even with the touchscreen use for movement.
I then had to replace my Storm due to a discoloration on the screen. After I got the new storm, I went to their website, used their code change feature and got the new code, but could not download the application because it was not available for the storm.
They would not give me a download location for the file because it was not for the storm, even though it worked. They made me choose one of their other games - which I only found 3 games on their entire site of games that show they are available for the storm That actually WERE for the storm. ended up with crappy call of duty 4.
I will NEVER use bplay again for their crappy service and crappy site showing that a application is made for a device when it is not.
For similar reasons, I will never again use Handango for the same or similar reasons. I purchased mForm from them and did not get a registration code. still waiting for a code 5 days later, the application does not work now because the trial period is over.
I can't wait till the Blackberry Application store opens. March is too far away.
