i just downloaded 5.0.0.419 and it still says 1XEV in the top right corner. Why doesnt it say 3G? Please help! I know it might be weird but I really want it to say 3G!

If 3G comes back it will be in another leak, that might go offical, but will be a different version number. The only difference between a leak and an official is that a carrier approved the official. So if Verizon (or Sprint) approves .419 you will be stuck with 1XEV.
I just find it stupid that people don't care if the OS runs smooth and all the apps work with it (both RIM and 3rd party). But if there isn't that "cool" 3G symbol up in the corner they ***** and moan. Find something else to complain about. I actually like the 1XEV, it seems more sophisicated and is different from every other BB you see.
I'm just waiting for a Storm 2 OS to come out with 1XEV so I can install that, I could give a **** if the phone actually works as long as it don't look like all the other BB's with 3G.

I just think starting a thread when this has been discussed to death is just plain stupid. There isn't a point to even discuss this. It doesn't take away from the normal functions of the phone. For all the different bugs there are sometimes fixes for them, but there is NO fix for this. If you don't like it then put .230 back on, if it's that important to you. It's dumb that people like everything about this build, but are so depressed that it no longer says 3G.
For those of you looking through this thread asking if it's worth upgrading to.......the answer is yes. It's just as stable as .230 and appears to restart twice as quickly. Big thumbs up from this long time leaked version user.
It's not dumb at all. The 3G icon is part of the phone's aesthetics, just like a theme, wallpaper, etc.
And it seems like such a simple way to make customers happy. So why not give it to them?
I get the 3G symbol on my phone when I'm roaming on a GSM network (internationally). I must admit; it's pretty cool.
Well being that theme's and wallpapers are aftermarket addons/3rd Party apps/pictures (other than the ones that came from the FACTORY that you can't choose). Maybe the 3G symbol can be incorporated into one of of these beauty enhancers (aesthetics).
3G vs 1XEV has always been a GSM vs CDMA thing, which you explained yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong but Sprint users running 5.0.0.230 on the Tour never seen this "magical 3G" symbol. This is maybe just a Verizon/RIM thing, and Verizon has been doing some crazy things lately. They just care about $$, not their loyal customers, so why would they start making them happy now?
So my advice is to call Verizon or RIM and complain to them (But don't tell them your running a leaked OS) or move your rants to the proper forum (this topic cannot be helped or discussed any further).
I'm still hoping they put 1XEV on the next Storm leak (and then make it official) because I prefer it (it's the way it should be).
I can't beleive how hung up people get on what symbol shows on their phone. I'm curious what does the 3G/1XEV symbol do to change the world or make your phone run better. People need to get a life and not get so hung up on a meaningless symbol.
