The best thing you can do is search this subject. With it coming in the next week or two, people are already on edge. Please don't be scared off by some of the comments in this thread! BTW, I hope you have a thick skin.
5.0 is a completely rejuvinated operating system for the Blackberry Tour. There are so many fixes and speed improvements that going back from 5.0 to 4.7 is nearly impossible. Most people are using leaked versions of 5.0 and are wondering when the official release of 5.0 will be out. I suggest you download the latest leak of 5.0.0.419
I went 5.0 leaked about a week ago and kick myself in the *** for not doing it sooner. Overall speed of the phone is amazing now and quite a few lil neat tricks here and thee that I'm still discovering.

i'm probably in the minority here, but i don't really see how 5.0 is this spectacular improvement over 4.7. i was fairly happy with 4.7, it was never really that bad for me. however, after reading all the rave reviews about 5.0 on this forum, i decided to make the jump to 5.0.0.419. granted, the boot-up time for 5.0 is much faster than 4.7, but this was never really an issue for me since i mostly auto-rebooted my phone in the middle of the night. also, gps works much faster; however, i think this is more due to the fact that verizon hasn't got its hands on the leaked versions in order to tinker with the gps.
in the end, 5.0 is better than 4.7, just don't expect anything earth-shattering.
Threaded SMS was earth-shattering enough for me. I am still on .230 because someone mentioned a bluetooth bug in .419. Since I use my Tour for conference calls for work, that isnt a risk I can run at this point. I'll stick with .230 until the national rollout.
Small tweaks to some programs and an overall faster running OS. If these aren't that important to you, then I wouldn't stress about it as much as some other people on this forum do.
There are tons of refinements in the OS as stated above but honestly the main thing for me is that the 5.0 OS is actually stable while the 4.7.1 OS was nothing but unstable for me from day one with every build I tried.
As for OS enhancements the threaded SMS is probably the best new feature.
I will let you know in a few days how the leaked 5.0.419 holds up; just installed it on my Tour.
On my Tour, 4.7 is super stable. Never done an actual battery pull. Always over 100 mb free.. But.. Then again.. I do not install/try every app/theme that comes out..
4.7 is a stable but very slow and laggy. 5.0 is never slow and laggy. I noticed this instantly. Plus there's a lot more options, tweaks that help the user experience.

yep, 5.0 is much faster with no lag. Makes navigation on 4.7 feel like a pain.
Did they fix the contact default ringer/alert issue? That's really the most annoying thing for me with my 9630. Thanks!
