So I'm pretty new in this forum, and I must say, until now I was **-hum about the blackberry. For some reason (don't know if it was just my phone, apps running, or what) but my tour was CONSIDERABLY slower on 4.7. Everything took at least a minute to get into if it involved 3G. Even had BOLT and it was slow on it. BB app world also was painfully slow, not being able to see screenshots for at LEAST 5 minutes, and i was always in an area with full 1xEV (or whatever the 3g is).

I must say, 5.0.0.230 was the best thing that could've happened to my blackberry. The thing is fast as all ****, able to fly through app world, internet, any app I choose. The new layout is freaking awesome with the actual 3G icon and the BB symbol (never knew what the **** 1xEV was, I know, I'm a n00b), and the threaded SMS is AWESOME. Also, this has opened up my world to apps through bb appworld, considering now I can actually browse on it with ease! I downloaded this program called NimBuzz and it actually has facebook chat!!! I use it all the freaking time and had never known that there was an app out there (that didn't cost 49.99 ahem ahem IM+ ahem...) that worked with facebook chat.

I haven't found a SINGLE glitch with 5.0 yet! Shibby!!!

Overall, this upgrade has made me a very please blackberry user. Just thought I would share!

hybrids, eh? What's the hybrid version upgrade on it? I pretty much LOVE things the way they are and find it kinda hard to believe that it could get better than the current OS i got on there. lol

well you can do some reading on it in the beta os section.....it just makes it more stable , bettery battery, more memory by taking the apps off the phone that you dont use so therefore frees up more memory to make the phone more responsive...just do some research, and if you decide to do it and need help, just bbm me...

to each is own, some people find them great and some people find the reg OS to work fine, when i had the 5.0.0.230 it was horrible on my phone so each device acts differently

I found that I had the same issues with the hybrid version that I had with the actual .230. .230 doesn't seem to want to agree with my bb lol.

I upgraded to 5.0 for the first time last week and to be honest, I'm quite underwhelmed. Threaded SMS is useful, but I could easily go without it. The slightly redesigned UI is negligible, and I barely notice any performance or memory gains. I'm shocked that people are/were so excited for this...

your right, its not really that much to look forward too. The main difference is threaded text messaging, but other then that, just a halndful of small changes that doesnt do a whole lot. I'm board to death already with 5.0 and wanting an upgrade to 5.1 already lol thats not going to happen in a long time though, but 5.0 is better then 4.7, but not by much

My thoughts exactly...threaded sms is the only reason I tried to put up with the issues I had with .230 for as long as I did.

yea the 5.0 isnt all that but its def better than 4.7, i went back to 4.7 after 5.0 was gettin on my nerve at one point and then i was like **** no and hooked that data cable right back up!

really now?! Maybe I had a bad version of 4.7 but everything is like, at LEAST 2x as fast now with .230. No one else had the huge speed upgrade? for me it was like going from a civic to a Ferrari! lol. plus c'mon, being able to have chat view threaded sms that you're able to just press the enter key! I freakin love it. I still say that 5.0 was VERY worth the upgrade.

I guess it just depends on the phone!

My reboot time increased. Not significantly, but it still was noticeable.

And obviously threaded SMS is a great addition, but 1) That is not a new, innovative feature. Most other smartphones have had that for a very long time now, and 2) Can you really justify the hype of 5.0 over such a minor thing (which it is) as threaded SMS?

So true...I'd have to reboot every 15 minutes, so I was happy for the the faster reboot lol.

    I haven't started experimenting with O/S's yet...

Where (or which) are you guys getting the .230 O/S from??? It's on another BB model, right???

How do you determine if it will work on the Tour??? Just by trying it???

theres a handful of 5.0 leaked versions for the Tour. The most stable 5.0 OS for the Tour is .230

I have been running .230 for awhile now and it has been no problem at all. The threaded texts once you have it you will be spoiled.

Just to ask, is there a good How-To guide on loading 5.0? I've never done this and would love to upgrade my Tour, but I'm really not sure on how/what to do so I DONT mess up my Tour.
