ok i must be doing something wrong, i try to extract the files to the 4.7.1.4 folder and it gives me like 914 errors saying the paths not specified??? im so lost lol

edit: i just copy and pasted, now where would i go to put the new os on lol

second edit: i dont need to delete any vendor files since this only modifies the shared folder. is that correct?

pretty sure i just figured it out lol
    updating now

In reality we don't the installer right? All we need to do is just copy and paste the files into the shared folder? From there shrink if you want and just load it up, right?

I just finished upgrading to v3. Everything looks good so far.

But how do you get it to boot up in 3 minutes. I just did a battery pull and it took 6 minutes from the time I put the batttery to the verifying security sign.

    I took 6 minutes with:

    Pandora
    Bolt
    berryweather

I also got most of the stock apps like docs to go, tasks, memo and password keeper.

Weird. You guys have just as much or even more than me. Are you guys doing a battery pull or just doing a restart (don't even know how to do a restart besides deleting apps, LOL)?

With the Battery Pull I get 3:28. Did you do a battery pull after installing the Hybrid? Did you install other things like languages that you might have not needed?

I did a battery pull after installation. I did shrink all languages. I also shrunk a few other things but not much. Just some to name were application center, default backgrounds (even though they still show), default font and help files.

I didn't even shrink anything... Shrink-A-Os doesn't like my XP install and won't run...

Nice work.... does seem to be a little quicker than v2. Will report back more after a day of use to see how it lasts.

Again, well done and thanks for the work and time put into this.

Not sure if this is a hybrid issue or what... but if I try to scan a barcode in BBM 5, it freezes the phone.

EDIT: Seems like it doesn't happen all the time... maybe just when it can't scan.

I did notice though that every time I restart the phone, it prompts me that I've inserted a SIM card and asks me if I'd like it to search for the best network...

yes you need the actual OS that you can get from vzam.net/blackberry

    1) uninstall all OS files from control panel
    2) browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Shared\Loader Files and delete all the folders in there
    3) install the 4.7.1.40 OS file from vzam.net/blackberry
    4) install the hybrid exe file / or java only
    5) shrink what you'd like
    6) launch loader.exe and install
