    Hi,
I'm running OS v5.0.0.344 on my Bell BB 9700..and I tried downloading the .541 update from the Bell blackberry site. However I'm having trouble updating my phone through the Desktop Manager...
After I downloaded the software .541 pack off the website, when I open Desktop Manager, it says I don't have any updates.

    Help please??

I believe .541 is the platform, not the OS version, you probably downloaded the OS you already have on your 9700

I don't honestly know the correct answer so I won't BS you, many on CB know what is important about it. The latest official OS is always at the top of the 9700 forum, if you are looking for the newest beta it is in the beta OS forum. for instance, I am running 5.0.0.415(667), platform is 5.1.0.115. I love this OS!!

There are 3 different numbers when talking about a BlackBerry Operating System.

    For instance: 9700 OS 5.0.0.421

.421 is the Application version<--- what matters to most people

5.1.0.116 is the Platform version<-- this includes the radio code, etc

Rel_(Release/Package Number) Rel_678 is the package number or the release number. This means nothing and is simpy the number given to each OS as it's package number.

    .415's Rel number was 667

    .421's Rel number was 678

    .423's Rel number is 680

All people are really worried about is the Applications version. When you mention 541, you are speaking of the Package version because the Application version hasn't reached the .5xx's yet.
