BlackBerry Messenger and PIN messaging are only available between BlackBerry users. They use data, not SMS, and so are not limited to a maximum message length. Text Messaging is SMS. It's available between any two cellular users, regardless of phone, but it typically limited to either 160 characters or 6 * 160 characters. It requires a text plan.

BBM is a more graphical interface with threaded messaging and conversations. PIN messaging is more like basic e-mail.

Also you can "speak" with groups of people via BBM. Great tool when trying to set up a meeting or trying to get a group together.
