Dummy's question:
I have downloaded the new OS (V.5) for my Bold 9000, but when I try to install it by running it, a DOS prompt opens and immediately closes, and nothing else happens.
I'm running Windows 7 - any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Please help!

Did you download it from BlackBerry? Might need admin rights, but I'm an XP user, and it just loads.

I did get it from Blackberry (it's the Kuwait 5.0.0.464 one). It did say that it is a binary file...?

i have a weird question... i followed the steps to the t however every time I delete the vendor file and i launch dm it says that selected os cannot be loaded. now if I go back and re-run the os file and leave the vendor file untouched, dm loads OS just fine... i have bb9630 (tour) thru sprint and the os i got is from verizon.

Only reason I can think of for that, the phone was originally a VZW and now reflashed to Sprint. When you boot up, what carrier is on your splash screen?

it says sprint.... this is actually the second OS I load using DM. the phone works just fine and it was originally purchased at a sprint store. right now i am running .662 and it is awesome! i just wanted to know. the phone downloads all the sprint service books just fine. I dont know... and I followed the wipe out procedure using JL commander. :|

I have a question if using apps loader when trying to update os on a perticular device for example 8900 dm says no update available but i installed version 5.0 the how do i select which file or where do i go to select a file once i pass the or get to add or browse!
I dont know where to look for installed file or which file to select.

You won't get any notification. The latest officially released OS for a particular device is normally shown in a sticky at the top of the forum for that device. If your device supports OTA OS upgrades, you can also check for those on your device.

What country are you in?

Shut down the PC, connect the USB to a rear port, reboot the PC, click on loader.exe, connect your phone, start loader.
