All you need to do is replace the vad files in the java folder of .238 with ones from .190. It is working perfectly now.

    Download and install .190

Go to C:/ > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > .190 Folder > Java

Copy all the net_rim_vad files and place them in a new folder

    Uninstall .190

Go to C:/ > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > .238 Folder > Java

Delete all the net_rim_vad files and replace them with the files you saved from .190 (paste them from the new folder)

Plug in your BB, run DM and let it update... simples

Can someone kindly post a link for these .190 vad.cod files, or attach a .zip folder containing these files to a post in this thread?

How about a link to the 5.0.0.190 OS then, so I can get the files?

I'm trying with BBSAK though, why reinstall the whole OS?

    Thanks for the files.

Unfortunately, it didn't restore my non-functioning audio with BT. After I loaded the .190 files, I couldn't open the VAD app either. Oh well, back to square one.

That's because VAD has very little to do with Bluetooth, and if VAD was working but BT wasn't, replacing the VAD files won't do anything for you. And the poster of the files you used originally posted them in the .238 thread and uses a bold, which means you put VAD files for the wrong device on your 8330. Might have something to do with why it broke.

    Try this:

    1. Uninstall all versions of the device software from your computer.
    2. Use DM to back up your phone.
    3. Download and install the device software that worked for you last (links to the OS downloads are all over this site. Check the 8330 forum. I've neer been in there but I'm quite sure there's a sticky at the top of it with the most recent official OS release, and there's also the OS Super Page stickied at the top of this beta OS forum. Find the correct version for YOUR phone).
    4. Copy the net_rim_vad files from the java folder to somplace else on your computer.
    5. Download and install 5.0.0.230 to your computer (I think... again, read what's the right version for YOUR device).
    6. Copy your saved vad files over the ones in the java folder of the 5.0 OS you just installed.
    7. Delete vendor.xml from the new OS.
    8. Wipe your phone and install the OS using DM or better yet, loader.exe

EDIT: As a matter of fact, grabbing the old vad cod files my not even be necessary in your case, since vad wasn't broken for you on OS .230. Still try the wipe and re-install to bring it back, and it may even solve your BT problem. Read the .230 threads to see if others are missing BT functionality. I remember reading about Bold users awhile back that were losing BT with 5.0, but that turned out to be related to the model of headset... some worked, some didn't.
