I have a Curve 8900 running os 5.0.0411 and am using the newest BBM (not sure of the version atm) and am trying to pair up with my buddies Pearl but both of our phones just say "pending" for the contact information and neither of us get the confirmation to add eachother. Is this a limitation between blackberries and pearls?

No. The software that makes a BlackBerry work is common to all model.

The 8900 with v4.6xx should work correctly with any other BlackBerry Messenger.

The beta software is the most likely canidate, roll it back to know for sure.

I agree you should use a official os and see if it makes a difference
