I have followed the instructions in the SMS Bug .415 .421 & .423 thread, sorry but the forum rules says that I can't post links yet. Anyhow, this fixed my problem but I am know getting a problem whenever I try to install a new software through Desktop manager stating

(the update file "net_rim_b_sms_compose.cod" for application "blackberry 5.0.0 core applications" is not compatible with the version of the application that is installed on your device. Please delete the application from your device and then reinstall the application. Warning: if you delete an application from your device, you also delete any device data that is associated with the application.)

So can anyone upload the cod for os version 423

It's that simple.
time to learn to fish.
download OS .423, install on your computer, open the Java folder and find the file you need. This is what someone else would have to do to get you the file.

someone had posted the cod files as a zip in another thread. personally, i prefer the sms cods from .405, as i believe the sms cods from .423 were still hit or miss for some people.

I would recommend installing BOTH of these cods via BBSAK at the same time.

I would recommend backing up your phone. then wiping it. then installing OS .442
