I just got a 9700 today and I love it to bits. I hooked up to my computer and was prompted an update from the desktop manager and I agreed to do it. It has been 1 hour and 20 mins and it is still at loading module "net_bb_phone_resources.cod".

Has been loading this module for the past 1 hour and 20 mins. Is this normal ? I did a wipe and vendor xml removal prior to updating.

    Please advise. Thanks in advance!

If I had a dollar for every thread like this I've seen lately. Since you wiped first, you have two choices. Let it keep going, or disconnect and follow my guide. Should take 45 minutes max. I darn near never wipe. Not necessary except in extreme circumstances.

No joy even with your guide but I learned quite a lot from your guide. Thanks!

The problem was with my computer. I don't know what problem though. I switched usb ports and still no joy. I finally decided to try it on my laptop and OMG the process took less than 10 mins.

Glad you learned a thing or two. 10 minutes is far to short to complete an upgrade though. Check Options->About, and make sure it really upgraded. What OS is your PC running?

I wiped the device and no backup since it was my first day and had nothing in it. Only installed language pack so it was pretty darn fast.

    BB running v5.0.0.862 (Bundle 1446, Platform 5.1.0.175).
    Both PC were running WinXP.

Awfully fast Aaron! Odd to have an issue with a XP system. Must be the USB port. Next stop, 938 or OS6. hmmmmmmm, or maybe a hybrid.

Yea maybe! Not a very good experience for a first time but definitely boosted my courage. LOL.

By the way, I do need to uninstall the bb OS i installed in the computer before attempting another OS upgrade right ?

Only time it would be advisable to remove an OS is to downgrade, and still not necessary, just easier.

I've had about a dozen on mine. Zero issue. It always looks for the newest.
