    Hey all,

I was on the phone with RIM today and I was told that there is no release date for 5.0 to be released for Curve 8330's and it will either be a long time from now or not happen at all. Just wanted to share this bit of info with you. I don't know whether this is true or not, I hope it's not, but it is what it is.

Well, for those who wait for the OFFICIALLY released OS, people do care...

well... i don't really see how RIM could even answer that considering its up to carriers, and not RIM what becomes official, and anyone bent on the word 'official' needs a reality check anyway, that word means nothing, the official att bold releases have typically been the worst builds out there...

This could be right and I guarantee that VZW does not release OS 5.0 anytime soon or even release it at all for the 8330. They are still working out the issues with Storm 1 release and with the 8350 coming out soon which the phone has more memory and faster processor plus was designed with the OS 5.0.

I doubt that VZW would waste resources on it getting it operational for the 8330 plus their are so many hybrids out their that Verizon rather see someone else work on it. LOL

i have a feeling a similar storm/storm 2 situation will occur, but of course this is all speculation.
they're still selling 8330s so i doubt they'd neglect the millions of people with curves, i feel like they'd take care of you guys with OS 5 and then release the new curve 8530
    hopefully anyway.

That would make sense, but time will tell. I am just hoping they decide to. Either way, I am happy with my 8330 for now

I'm happy with my 8330m as it is, and though I would definitely upgrade to 5.0 if it was released, I don't "need" 5.0 that bad. I can wait till I upgrade my phone to get it if I have to. I have a feeling 5.0 would make my phone a little "cooler" but maybe not add much actual substance and may even slow it down.

Why would they tell you yes and the date? That's like looking at a 2009 car a dealer wants to sell and you are asking when the 2010s come out. RIM would rather you plunk down for a Tour or a Storm and have 5.0 that way.

If I want OS 5.0 I would rather purchase a 8350 which is designed for 5.0 than try to deal with the headaches with my 8330 with OS 5.0.

The 8350 has wifi more memory and GPS along with the track pad dont get me wrong the 8330 is a great BB but it is time to pass on the torch and let it go.
