well, it's a leaked version.. not official yet. Not sure if theres a way to get it on the 8320 because of the memory issue there, so someone who knows about it should better assist you there.

I've only seen it on the 8330s and they say its able to handle it because of the additional memory. Not sure that the other 83xx models can do it.

Well, you can try shrinking it before loading it, but i wouldn't have high expectations about it. Keep a backup of the version you currently have just in case. If you have any luck with it, you may not be able to have a whole lot of apps on it. Good Luck!!

Well as of now, the only 83xx that has 5.0 is the 8330.
Anything below that isn't really capable of the upgrading without totally bogging down the system.
The 8330 has an unofficial 5 update with numerous hybrids from other people.
The 8330m has no unofficial 5 update with a hybrid being worked on by SFL.

The best you can do right now on the 83XX is a 4.5 base OS hybrid with 5.0 and 4.6 files. You will not have the clock, threaded SMS, or the browser from 5.0 though.

You can have the games from 4.6 on your 83XX like Klondike, Sudoku, and Texas Holdem 2 though.

On my 8330, I had about 45MB of free memory with 4.5, low 20's with 5.0 even after shrinking it.

This will NOT work. Assuming you can even get it to load on an 8320, you would then be the proud owner of a bricked berry. All OSes are device-specific, meaning you can not load an OS intended for an 8330 on any other Curve.

And due to the size of the 5.0 OS, RIM will not be making it available for any Curve 83xx other than the 8330. 96mb of RAM was the cutoff, and the 8330 is the only Curve 83xx with adequate memory, and barely adequate at that. Like xlide, I was barely able to maintain memory in the low 20s with 5.0, and that was with hybrid version and I shrunk pea-waddin out of the OS before installing it.

    Refer to this thread:

Backup everything before trying this. You should be OK loading this on a 8310. If loading on an 8320, you would need to edit your blackberry.alx file or you might lose wifi support.

I would link it, but I haven't hit 10 posts yet so the site won't let me! boo!

Just search 5.0 OS 8330, and look for the Leaked: OS 5.0.0.230 for the Blackberry Curve 8330!!! post from Crackberry.com, and it's there. From Megaupload I believe.

But yeah, backup everything before you download it...had to re-download bbm 5.0 (put 4.7 on there for some reason), facebook, windows live messenger, ect.

The OP, and others want to know if the 5.0 OS is available/possible on the 83XX (8300, 8310, and 8320), not the 8330, which everyone knows has the leaked 5.0 OS.
