Nothing, unless you need to reload all/part of your OS on the phone.

You can modify it and remove unwanted stuff to free up memory.

Can't you remove things with the Desktop Manager through the app loader?

I would use CrackMem to remove preloaded wallpapers, carrier themes, etc.

The tour seems to have ample memory I'm still over 100mb even with several apps installed. I see no need to reinstall unlike my storm.

It gives you a full restore option. Like getting that first PC, with no restore disks.

You didnt want to muck around to much, because you might screw something up, forcing a reinstall. Now you can reinstall your phone, fresh and clean.

Some things you can but not everything that can be removed.

You have to use CrackMem or Shrink A OS to remove some things.

You're right but some of us like to free up as much memory as possible.

Some of things preinstalled are completely useless and a waste of space.

That was quicker than I thought it would be. Now we can go in and free up even more memory - isn't really needed but still.

They all came out with this OS. It's just good to have in case you ever have to reload the OS on your BB. Or, some like to remove the apps that they don't use from the OS and reload it, so it doesn't take up as much device memory.

This downloads MUCH faster than the RIM servers, and you don't have to put in your personal information before downloading it.

Oh don't get me wrong I totally agree. The more available the better. Could even make it even more snappier. Its just a sharp contrast to what I was used to with the storm. Which is great!

Good to have it now. When I connected my Tour to DM it was offering to update the software already, but was nervous since I did not have the restore download
