Found out today that with the beta version of os 4.5.0.33 for the 8830 it will not let the phone go to 1XEV. I'm running os 4.5.0.66 for the 8330 with no problems. Aslo the gfs pearl has no problems with switching back and forth from 1x to 1xev also running 4.5.0.66. Another person has the 8830 with 4.2.0.196 and was recieving the 1XEV signal..... I wish i could just happen across a copy of 4.5.0.51 but it seems all links are dead.......

1XEV works fine on .33, but that version has a lot of issues. .51 is a lot more stable for the most part.

I know you know whats going on from reading your post. What would you say is causing this one phone with .33 from not switching to 1XEV when the other 8830's with out the upgrade switched immediately and this phone is still showing 1x?
If its not .33 would you say its hardware?

I don't understand what you mean by that. Did you try a more recent version of 4.5 or did you roll back to a carrier release of 4.3? Keep in mind that you must be in the EVDO coverage map in order to have EVDO service. That's what EV stands for. If you just have 1X, that means you have no EVDO speed, but you're good for phone and Blackberry data support... just as slower speeds. Could be the carrier's network in your area. I would try dialing *228 and see if you can choose "Program your phone" or "Update roaming list". Your carrier might or might not support OTA programming like that though.
