Enable Remote Backup, and it's best to register a blackberry address as that can't possibly go to a spam folder. Then delete BBM, pull your battery, install BBM again from here:
    BBM5.0.0.57 OTA
After you ok the initial disclaimer it will prompt you to restore. Don't bother entering your name, just click restore from remote backup, choose the email addy, and watch the magic.

Yea I'd either suggest A) a battery pull... B) go to BBM and see if its a contact request?... C) go to the messaging app and see if it says anything in there about BBM... D) delete it and install the newest version
